I'm here for you

Chapter 6

Shikamaru and Naruto made their way to the Nara compound, on their way they were met with Temari.

Temari  immediately jumped on Shikamaru, hugging him tightly, Naruto awkwardly backed away. 

Temari said,"Where were you? I went to your place but you were not there. Your parents said you went to a friends place." Shikamaru scratched the back of his neck,"Oh. I was at Naruto's." Shikamaru pointed towards Naruto with his chin.

Naruto awkwardly waved,"Hello."

Temari hooked her arms with Shikamaru,"Are you free right now? I have to go back to Suna around afternoon so I want to spend some time with you  for a while."

Naruto looked at the couple then said,"Shikamaru you can go with her. I will got to Nara compound on my own."

Temari asked,"Why do you want to go to Nara compound?"

Before Naruto can say anything, Shikamaru  said,"Will you be okay?" Naruto nodded,"Yeah." 
Naruto smiled before walking away, Shikamaru sighed seeing Naruto walk away, Temari looked at Shikamaru's face and saw an unknown emotion in his eyes for a split second before it vanished.

Naruto was now sitting infront of Shikaku and Yoshino, he said,"Um...Shikaku-san, Yoshino-san, Can I stay here for few days? Shikamaru offered me but I think it is better to ask you first."

Yoshino said,"You can stay here Naruto but may I ask what happened to your place?"

Naruto said,"Um...My place is not very good condition, The hokage promised to give me another place after all the work in the village is done, I am sure you know that there are lot of works in the village since it hasn't even been a year since the war ended."

Shikaku nodded,"Yeah. But I don't think that is the only reason. There is something else, right?" 

Naruto control the urge to sigh, there is nothing that goes pass the Nara clan. They are too smart. Naruto took a deep breath before saying,"Actually I face harsh nightmares and somehow only Shikamaru can keep them away.  So we thought that...er...we sleep together for a while until we can find how and why he can keep those nighmares away."

Yoshino and Shikaku shared a look at each other then Yoshino said,"Naruto you can stay  here. You can share a room with Shikamaru."

Naruto nodded,"Thanks Shikaku-san, Yoshino-san." Shikaku and Yoshino gave him a bright smile.

After a while, Shikaku showed Naruto his son's room, as they entered the room he said,"Naruto you  can live here for as much as long you want." Naruto smiled,"Thanks Shikaku-san, I owe you a lot."

Shikaku just smiled and went away. In his heart he knew that he owed naruto a lot, afterall the bo saved his and his family's life.

Naruto looked around the room, it was very simple and clean, he laid on the bed and stared at the ceiling.

Kit, are you okay?

Kurama I don't know how to thank them. They are doing so much for me.

Kit I am sure they are happy for helping you and are glad that you are here with them.

Really?

Yes kit. 

I feel a lot better after hearing that. Thanks.

Anytime kit.

Anyway Kurama, today when I met Temari, did she ignore me again and again on purpose or is it just my thinking?

Kit I think she ignored you on purpose. 

Why though? I didn't do anything to her.

I don't know Kit. 

Ahh....I am so tired.

Then sleep for a while.

But I will get nightmares. And I-I am scared.

Don't be scared, I am here.

Naruto couldn't defeat his tiredness and fell asleep, at first he was calm but then he started thrashing around on the bed, cold sweats formed on his forehead, and he started yelling,"No! NO!"

Yoshino and Shikaku who were in the living room heard the yelling and immediately ran towards Shikamaru's room. 

Yoshino opened the door and they both saw the condition Naruto was in. They couldn't imagine how painful it was, Shikaku was shocked, he moved towards Naruto and tried to wake the boy up,"Naruto wake up, wake up, Naruto!"

However Naruto couldn't wake up, he clenched the bedsheet and cried,"Please no." Tears streamed down his face, Yoshino heart ached seeing the poor boy, she also tried to wake him up.

Shikamaru who just arrived at his house, heard some noise and ran towards his room, he saw his parents and naruto who was crying,"What the---"

Shikaku said,"He isn't waking up....." 

Shikamaru didn't let his father finish and hopped on the bed, he placed his hand on Naruto's head,"Naruto, I'm here, wake up naruto." 

Naruto relaxed a bit, Shikamaru said,"Wake up naruto, it's just a bad dream."

Naruto relaxed and slowly opened his eyes, Shikamaru's face came in sight, he said,"Shikamaru?" 

Shikamaru nodded and  wiped Naruto's tears, Naruto got up and started wiping his tears with his sleeves, after a second he realised Shikaku and Yoshino were there too. 

Shikaku and Yoshino were shocked, yes they heard that their son can help Naruto with his nightmares but witnessing it themselves was on whole diiferent level. Shikaku who is always calm lost himself for  a second when he saw his son wipe Naruto's tears.

Shikaku coughed,"Naruto are you alright?"

Naruto smiled weakly,"Yes I am alright, Sorry to worry you."

Yoshino shook her head,"It's alright dear. Do you want to eat something? It's already lunch time." Before Naruto could say something his stomach grumbled, Yoshino chuckled,"I'll take that as a yes." Naruto hid his face in embarrasment.

Shikaku said,"Son let's talk after we have lunch." 

Shikamaru nodded as his parents walked away. After a second he realised what just happened and he felt the heat go up his cheek. What the hell did he just do infront of his parents?!

Shikamaru looked at Naruto,"So we are sharing a room?" Naruto gave a nod. 

Shikamaru laid besides Naruto,"Want to take a nap before the lunch is ready?" Naruto said,"Okay." Naruto normally would avoid naps because of the nightmares but now that Shikamaru  was here with him, he felt safe.

Shikamaru pulled Naruto by his arm and had him cuddle on his chest. He let out a sigh as he closed his eyes,"You won't be suffering from nightmares now that I'm here. Sleep well Naru~"
