Brittany's POV

I was... surprised, for lack of a better word. My eyes glanced over to Cassie in a panic, because I knew that Lily and Louis didn't remember me.

I stood up as fast as I could, dusting the crumbs off of my shirt, and flashed a weak smile.

"Brittany!" Cassie smiled back at me. "I'm so glad to see you!"

"You too, Cassie!"

I looked at Lily, who smiled and waved at me, just like she normally would, which confused me. Was she being polite, or was there even a chance that she actually remembered?

"I'm sorry, do you two know each other?" His voice rang through my ears, and when I looked over at him, it was like I was seeing again for the first time. He still looked as handsome as ever, his blue eyes sparkling as his lips curled into a frown.

"Yeah, we're just old friends actually." Lily told him, as he nodded in understanding. Now, I was really confused. Somehow, Lily remembered but Louis didn't?

Cassie must've seen my frustration, because she pulled me off to the side, closely followed by Lily.

"Brittany, I'm so glad I found you." She whispered before quickly and tightly hugging me.

"I missed you a lot." Lily added, doing the same.

My stomach soared. "You really remember?"

She nodded and smiled brightly, showing off her dimples. Cassie reached into the pocket of her jeans and pulled out an old, yellowing piece of paper. As I read it, my eyes widened.

"So, we have to tell him something and make him remember?" I clarified, wanting to understand everything so that I could have my Louis back. I missed him more than anything.

"Yeah, and it's probably going to be hard. You and Louis had a lot of memories..." Lily trailed off before clearing her throat and going back over to Louis, closely followed by Cassie and I.

"Louis?" I asked gently, hoping not to seem intimidating. "Hi. My name is Brittany."

"Hello love, nice to meet you." He smiled at me, and I felt a sharp pang in my heart.

"Okay," Cassie clapped her hands together loudly. She was always the one who would do anything she could to get out of an awkward situation, and this was definitely in my top ten list of most uncomfortable moments, although "trying to convince your boyfriend that he remembers you and your secret life as a mermaid" wasn't a very common thing to just happen to anyone.

"So, Louis, we really need you to listen because everything that's about to happen is going to seem very weird." She explained, and he cocked an eyebrow.

"Okay... does this involve her?" He asked, pointing to me. I grimaced and nodded.

"Yeah, actually it has a lot to do with me."

Louis looked even more confused, but before he could say anything else Lily made him sit down and pulled up three chairs across from his. We all sat down, and for a moment we were all looking back and forth between each other and Louis, wondering if this could really be done. My best friends knew exactly what to do, because Lily pulled out her phone and sent two quick texts, probably to Emily and Liam while Cassie grabbed my hand and squeezed it under the table.
