Comforting Lily

Cassie's POV

I was sitting on the couch, cuddling and watching movies with Harry, when I heard the doorbell ring.

"I'll be right back." I told Harry, and went to open the door to find Ed on my front porch with a girl next to him, who was crying. I looked at the girl closer, and realized that it was Lily. My mouth fell open. Lily NEVER cries. When she broke her leg, she said "maybe I can get a famous person to sign my cast."

This was not the Lily I knew.

"Lily, baby-"

"He called me that." She sobbed into Ed's shoulder.

"Shh, it's ok, it's alright." He said softly.

"Lily, come here." I said gently.

"N-no. Ed can't leave." She sobbed again.

"Don't worry, I'm here, I'll stay as long as you need me to." He said.

"Well, at least come in." I replied.

They walked in. Well, it was more like Ed walked in, and guided/carried Lily.
We walked into the living room, and Harry turned around.

"Ed! Great to see you mate, and, uh, who's this?"

I leaned in and whispered in his ear "that's Lily. Something bad must've happened to her. She never cries. Ever."

His eyes widened, and he looked from Lily, to Ed, to me.

"Lily, would you like to sit down?"

She nodded, and she and Ed sat down on the couch.

I sat down on the other side of her and put one of my arms around her. "Lily, can you tell me what happened?" I asked, softly.

"I don't think that's a very good idea." Ed protested.

"No, it's fine. I can tell them." Lily said. There's the strong, southern girl I know.

"Well," she began "Ed and I were going home because Liam told me that he was going to my place because he missed me. I walked into my apart-er-flat and I saw the two of them kissing on the couch."

I bit back tears, and I could tell Harry was trying to do the same. This was unbelievable. Liam and Lily were made for each other. Liam, he looked at Lily like she was the only girl on the planet, and to him, she was. Their worlds revolved around each other, and they were almost never apart. No one would've ever seen this coming.

"Lily, I'm so sorry." Harry said.

She started sobbing again.

"D-don't b-b-be. W-we aren't d-d-dating a-anym-more."

I couldn't believe those words came out of her mouth. They were Lilam. The inseparable, perfect couple. You'd always see the pictures in the tabloids with them smiling at each other, their eyes shining. I never would've expected this, not in a million years.
"Ok, you go lay down in the guest bedroom, and I'll come bring you some ice cream."

Lily nodded. And as soon as she opened her mouth, Ed said "yes Lily, I will carry you."

I chuckled quietly and walked into the kitchen to fix moose tracks, her favourite kind of ice cream. When I walked into the bedroom, I saw Ed holding Lily, who was curled up in a ball, bawling her poor heart out. And just like a switch was turned on in my mind, I realized something. Lily was broken.

Not again. I am so fucking sick of these boys ruining my sisters. First Brittany, now Lily?? Why is our relationship with the boys fading away?

Now I know something. Harry and I are gonna stay together, no matter what. I know exactly what these girls need and it's conversation. They need to speak to their ex boyfriends to work things out.

Brittany P.O.V.

"I miss you guys so much." I delicately placed a red rose on each of their graves. Tears filled my eyes and I buried it in my hands.

I was feeling so alone. My friends countries away, and here I am. Trying to get away from my idiotic ex, who is in the same state as me. I haven't spoken to Frankie lately. He's away in Arizona.

The graveyard looked so eerie at night. It started raining and I almost forgot until I looked down at my legs. When a tail arrived, I stayed. I wasn't leaving my mother, father, and Gracie for this.

"Why didn't you tell me? I had to figure this out alone! I wish I knew." I spoke.

"You really shouldn't be out here. It's a bit wet." A voice interrupted me. I turned to see Louis under an umbrella. I scoffed and held up a hand. It held back the rain from around me and I used the other hand to steam dry.

"Get away." I spoke while doing this. Louis stepped back and I stood up.

Keeping my hand up to block the rain, I walked home. It was dark and eerie and the rain had stopped. I stopped at Dunkin Donuts to grab a light and sweet hot coffee.

On the way home, I thought. Maybe I should forget about what Louis did? I know that now he probably felt different. Maybe I could go... Home.

I started running, I was going home. Back to London. To my friends. To my... Not friend...

I grabbed my duffel bag and tossed in everything again. Once that was done I grabbed a bit of money and left it all by the door.

I burst it open and stepped outside. After about 4 minutes I stopped by the shore. I only needed one last swim.

I dove in and flicked my tail. I had gone about 10 miles before turning around.

I got out and steam dried. It was now 12:36. Mermaids can tell what time it is by looking at the moon.

I stood and ran back. The next flight to London is at 1:00 AM. I could make it, the airport isn't far.
