Two Mermaids and One Direction

Chapter VIII

Niall POV

Ring. Ring. Ring.

"Hello?" Emily's voice said through the phone.

"Emily? It's Niall. From McDonald's?" I spoke.

"I know. So... You called?"

"Yes. I was wondering if you wanted to grab some pizza and go to the movies on Saturday night?" I asked her.

"Hmmm... I would have to thi- Ok sure!" She joked. "What time?"

"6:30" I said simply.

"Okay!"

"Great! See you then!" I hung up. I did my victory dance. Louis came in and joined me. He then looked me in the eye.

"Niall, how do you get a girl to like you?" He asked seriously.

I looked at me for a while. "Impress her. Get to know her. Remember all the little things she says to you. And this girl is...?"

"Brittany..." He mumbled.

"What's that?" I said, smirking.

"Brittany! I like Brittany!" He yelled.

"Lad, you've practically got this one. She likes you. I can see it in her eyes. They sparkle when she looks at you. They're dim when you leave. She smiles all the time when you're near. When anybody else is, she looks disappointed. Just ask her out!" I yelled. And I meant every word I said.

"I will. When the time is right." I shrugged.

Brittany POV

"Cassie, get yo but out here!" I screamed into the bathroom door. Hey, mermaid baths take a long time, but not this long!

"Hold yer horses! I'll be out it a second!" She yelled back. I felt the door handle get hot. I knew she was using her powers again!

Two can play at that game.

I stood back, held my hand out, and- let's just say "cooled things down in there." I made it snow in the bathroom.

I'm funny.

Then I froze the door handle. Trapped in a blizzard room? Poor Cassie. I knew she could just melt the ice anyway.

"B-B-Br-rittanyyyyy!!!!!!" Cassie's angry voice yelled from the room.

With just a flick of her wrist, she sent me flying across the room. Using her level eight wind powers against me eh?

Before we knew it, we were in an all out (friendly) mermaid war. Melting stuff, freezing stuff, throwing stuff,. Water was everywhere. We just lay on the floor with tails staring at the ceiling.

"Cassie lunch is- mermaid war?" Cassie's dad asked. We both just nodded.

I smiled as I sat at the table eating some gourmet mac & cheese made by Cassie's top chefs. Mmmmm, rich people food.

Then my phone buzzed. It was Louis. "Excuse me for a moment." I smiled at Cassie's parents. They motioned that it was ok.

"Hello?"

"Hi Brittany."

"Hey Lou!"

"Can you meet me at Gwerve Park in 15 minutes?" He asked.

"Sure! See ya there." I hung up.

Huh. Weird. I wondered what he wanted.

I saw him waiting in the park on a bench by the pond when I showed up. I had gotten starbucks frappuccinos. Yum.

We sat on a park bench sipping our coffee and laughing. I  forgot about why we were even there.

"So Brittany. The reason I invited you here was to ask you something."

"Yeah?" She smiled genuinely.

"Do you want to have dinner with me on Friday night?"

She grinned at me. "I'd love to."
