Brittany's POV

At that moment, my heart stopped.

Now, not literally. Of course, I was still alive and breathing.

Although, this time, I wish it wasn't. I wished that I wasn't there, I wished that the Council had killed me when they had the chance, and I wished that my heart would stop, literally stop, and that I could die.

What was the point of living if the love of my life didn't know everything we had been though? He didn't even know who I was, for God's sake. He was my everything, but I was nothing to him.

If that's not a reason not to live, I don't know what is.

Cassie quickly stood up, pushing the chair out from under her and causing an unpleasant screech.

"Louis, are you sure you don't remember?" She leaned in ever so slightly, staring at him with a look that could make even the most evil criminal crack.

He looked even more exhausted before he answered. "I honestly wish that I did, because if all of this is true, I want to remember loving you. Brittany, I truly mean it, I want to be able to think and have all of those memories there, but they aren't."

Tears welled up in my eyes as I leaned back and rested my head on the seat.

"It's okay, Louis." I whispered, and then I realized that I was lying.

"Actually, it's not okay. We were supposed to grow old together, Louis. We were always Brittany and Louis, and that was all we needed to be because that was enough. We met at a deli in New York, and from the moment I saw you I was in love. You love me too, I swear. We were supposed to wait a few years, until I was 24 because that was when I wanted to get married. We would have four kids, and we picked out names for each one of them, because we didn't care if they were a boy or a girl. We had a plan, Louis Tomlinson."

"Brittany, listen-"

"No, I'm not finished. We would finish our careers, retire together, and move to the beach so that I could be near the water. We would spent every day together, and sure, we would fight like an old married couple, but we would love each other more than we had ever loved anyone. Now, everything is ruined. You don't remember me, and I don't know how or why I deserve this, but I guess I do. I don't get to love you forever anymore. You don't love me because you barely know me, and I hate that. I hate that I love you so much."

"Brittany-"

"I love you." I looked him in the eyes.

He didn't return my gaze, because he closed his eyes.

"It hurts." He whispered, and Lily burst into tears, hugging Cassie tightly.

"Louis? Louis, are you okay?" I asked. I had been to plenty of hospitals in the past; I knew the drill when someone was in pain.

After a while, he looked back up at me, and his crystal eyes had a new sparkle.

"I love you too." He smiled.

I bit my lip, allowing tears to flow freely from my eyes.

-flashback (Louis POV)-

She stepped towards me. I was expecting a slap or something, but that's not what I got.

Before I could think, she threw herself in my arms.

"Promise me you're never going to do that again." She whispered in my ear.

"I promise." I smiled.

We stayed like this for a while.

"Louis?" She spoke and pulled away from me.
