Two Mermaids and One Direction

Chapter XII

Cassie's POV

We were at Cassie's house in the lounge room.

"Yeah... I'm dating Louis!" Brittany exclaimed.

"And I'm dating Niall!" Emily squeled

They had been talking about what happened up until this point. They continued with the details of their dates. Brittany got to the part about it raining and Lily just raised her eyebrows. She gave her an 'I'll explain later' look.

Emily's P.O.V.

There they go again with that rain thing. Lily was obviously in on the secret. But what exactly WAS the secret?!

"What is with you guys and this rain thing?!" I exclaimed.

"I know you're hiding something from me", I told them. "so don't even try to deny."

Cassie's POV

"Emily, can we trust you? Brittany asked calmly. I just stared at her, unsure of her decision to tell Em.

"Yeah, of course, why?" she asked skeptically.

"If we told you a secret, could you keep it?" I questioned further, "like, a huge secret."

"yes"," she said dragging out the 'e'.

"We would tell you", Brittany said.

"But you wont believe us," I stated.

"so we'll just show you," Brit finished.

"Let's go out back," Lily said, already walking out the door.

We were on the beach now. Brit and I started walking, still in our pajamas. We touched the water, but it didn't phase us; we just kept walking and looking straight ahead.

We were chest deep; it had been 11 seconds- I counted. I got a tingly, stinging sensation and then- I had a tail.

It was a mix of blues and greens. Very pretty and very rare. My top was basically made out of seaweed, and it was "strapless"

Brittany had a 'strapless' purple scaled top. Her tail was a mix of lavender and violet. which was also rare- most mermaids or mermen just had one color tails.

The tops differed. Some had shells, some had large starfish, some had scales, some had seaweed, like me, which was quite rare, and some, even rarer, had nothing at all!

We swam back to shore and beached ourselves, but still touched the water. Lily smiled knowingly while Emily just gawked.

"Tell. Me. Everything." She demanded

So we did. Everything Britt told Louis plus more about me and my family and the different tails and tops that mermaids had. We went into more depth about our powers and even demonstrated a few. We told her about how we could sing and how I had a great great grandmother who was a siren and how I must've been related to one to because we both had the ability to charm people with our singing voices.

Emily listened the whole time. She touched our tails, claiming they were slippery and a bit slimy. She promised she wouldn't tell a single soul- not that she really had a choice. But we believed her. Knowing she would keep her word.

"I will never forget this!" Lily exclaimed.

"Mermaids are pretty hard to forget about," Emily joked.

"I don't just mean that. All of this. This summer, our lives. It's been unforgettable," Lily said, smiling. and we all agreed.

All night longer swam- after Lil and Em changed into their bikinis.

"I guess now that's three people in on the secret," Brit thought out loud.

"Yeah, I guess it is; it's gonna be weird, you know, not having to keep the secret from one other person now," I said.
