TW: memory loss and blood

🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪

Kit hated everything. All he had wanted was to get a fucking croissant but instead he got a demon. So, he was hungry and fighting off this bastard which wasn't fun at all. He rolled out of the way of one of its weird tentacle things as it came at him, swinging the seraph blade he was holding to cut said tentacle in half. Kit screwed his nose up as the stench of ichor filled the room. There was a scream from behind him and he mentally cursed mundanes for being dumb and not leaving the cafe when a fucking demon came in. He dodged another tentacle as he made his way in the other direction, bringing the demon away from the mundane.

"Get out!" He yelled at the idiot that was still in the shop.

There was a scramble and then a door slam and the cafe was silent for a second before the demon hissed. So apparently it didn't like that. Whoops. Kit avoided the next few attacks and managed to cut off a few tentacles. Tessa was never going to let him of the hook for not listening to her when she said to bring someone with him, which he had ignored only to them get attacked by Mr Tentacles over there.

"You couldn't have waited till another day," he said, sounding out of breath to even himself.

The demon just hissed in response, reaching out to try and drag him closer. He cut off the offending tentacle but was caught off guard by another one which had snuck up on him.

Kit let out a yell as he was yanked of his feet and shaken around like a rag doll. He attempted to stab the demon but just ended up almost loosing his weapon instead. The demon, having apparently had enough of waving him around, paused in what it was doing. It seemed to blink, considering what to do next. Why couldn't have this tentacle fucker been stupid?

The tentacle wrapped around him was suddenly pulled back towards the demons body and he was fully prepared to have this thing try and eat him. He wasn't prepared to be flung out the window. Shards of glass pierced his skin as it shattered beneath him. Kit rolled when he hit the ground on instinct, even though he smashed his head pretty hard. The slight blurriness of his vision said he likely had a concussion, though he doubted it was anything major. Kit pushed himself to his feet, wincing in pain and having to pause a few times to clear his vision of the black dots that danced across it.

He heard a shout in the distance and swore. If another fucking mundane got too close, he wasn't even going to bother protecting them. Like how stupid can they get?? Briefly glancing over at the person though showed that it was in fact a group of Shadowhunters come to help. He sent a quick thank you to the angels and stepped back from the fight as the others stepped in. Kit collapsed against a wall and slid down it until he was sitting on the ground. His head was throbbing at this point, the light and sounds of battle doing nothing to help. He lifted his hand up to rub at his temple in an attempt to release tension but just ended up making himself wince. Pulling his hand away from his face revealed that Kit had blood all over his fingertips.

Swearing under his breath, he dug into his pocket for his phone and pulled it out. Turning the camera on showed that there was a massive gash in his head, the skin around it already starting to bruise. Kit sent a quick text to Tessa saying that a tentacle demon had been at the cafe and that he might have a concussion before sliding his phone back into his pocket.

Looking up revealed that the shadowhunters had finally killed the demon. One of them, a female with green dyed hair and tanned skin, made their way over and held a hand out to him.

"Astrid Moore, nice to meet you," she said giving him a small smile as she eyed his forehead with worry.

"Kit Herondale," he replied, surprised by how much effort it took to keep his words from slurring.

He reached up and took her hand while watching the surprise flash across her face at his last name.

She helped pull Kit to his feet carefully.

"Herondale? I-"

The rest of what Astrid said was lost to him as hie stumbled, the world spinning as he collapsed back to the ground.

He came to slowly, the pounding in his head the only constant. His eyes felt heavy, the effort to open them seemed like too much, so he didn't. After a while though, the darkness became too much so he opened his eyes. He slammed them close almost immediately, groaning at the bright light filling the room.

"Christopher?" a voice said from his left, sounding oddly familiar.

He opened his eyes slightly and glanced over at the person. Her brown hair and grey eyes sent a sense of clam through him, but no recognition sparked in his brain. He opened his mouth in an attempt to speak but gave up when he could barely get out a word, his throat too sore.

The woman chuckled and reached for the glass of water that sat beside the bed.

"You always seem to forget that you need to drink water after you wake up from being unconscious after a battle."

He took a few small sips of the water as he pondered the woman's words. From the calm and safe feelings she brought, he could tell he knew her well and she him. What battle was she talking about though? And why couldn't he remember her?

When he voiced his thoughts, the smile feel from the lady's face. Tears filled her eyes as she stared at him.

"You don't know who I am?" she asked, the motherly time he hadn't even noticed in her voice gone.

He shook his head. He watched the sadness in her eyes transform to something like determination as she held at a hand.

"My name's Tessa Gray," she told him, "and yours if you don't remember is Christopher Herondale. Though, you prefer to be called Kit."

Kit reached over and grasped Tessa's hand.

"It's nice to meet you."

Using only he/him/his to refer to Kit in that last part hurt my brain dude. Anyway, hope you liked this 👍 I wrote half of it while walking to school cause gods is that boring.
