Because of me?

Luka couldn't understand. Yana has agreed to meet him. So why? Why wasn't she showing up? A new morning broke on and Luka finally stood up from the stars in front of the skyscraper and stumbled towards the streets.

Luka was tired, exhausted. His hair was messed up, his throat was sore and his feet hurt, but the thought of going to uni and seeing Yana, spurned him on to not go home and straight head to uni. Once he saw her, he'd get an answer and he knew, even though he wanted to be angry at her, once he saw her, he couldn't.

He just wanted to hold her in his arms and make up. This was all that mattered. With these thoughts, Luka walked through the city before he, at long last, stood in front of the uni giving him renewed hope.

The first thing Luka did was to ignore all of his friends and the stupid comments about his appearance they made and straight went to the toilet.

A look into the mirror revealed how bad he looked.

Splashing water on his face, then styling his hair, Luka, despite not having slept the whole night, looked extraordinarily handsome. The water dripped from his face down his chin, his throat and wetted his collarbones.

The bangs that usually graced his forehead were pushed back with water and revealed his face in full glory.

Now, instead of looking worn out and messy, Luka looked like he just came from swimming. There was a certain charm to the messy and wet appearance of his. His eyes were misty and his lips slightly open. The sight put anyone into a trance as he passed them.

Throughout the months, Luka has learnt Yana's schedule and he knew she had lectures with Mia first thing in the morning. Yet Luka came too late and missed the first two lectures.

He waited in front of the room for it to end. As the masses of students poured out, Luka didn't see Yana. He only saw the disappearing figure of Mia alone and rushed to grab her by the shoulders.

"Mia, where's Yana?" not even waiting for Mia to speak up first, Luka hastily blurted out yet he took a step back. He was surprised to see the hostility and anger in Mia's eyes.

"You!" Mia pushed Luka but they both lost balance and fell to the ground. Yet Mia was unfazed instead she towered over him and grabbed him by the collar, "What did you do to Yana?"

Perplexed, Luka tried to get Mia's iron grip off him. He was surprised to see that she had so much strength, "What I did? I did nothing!"

"Who else but you! I bet you ran after her like a bloody stupid dog after you met her in the mall yesterday so what did you do?"

"I really have no idea what you're talking about!" Luka finally managed to get Mia off him and pinned her to the ground. They both ignored the passerby that were staring and gossiping.

"Don't play dumb. You ran your damn mouth again and hurt her, didn't you?" Mia shouted and struggled against this grip.

Luka's patience ran thin with her, "I told you, I did nothing. Where's Yana?"

"C'mon! Adonis should know, right? Yana fucking dropped out of uni!"

BOOM

Luka slowly let go Mia's hands. As the words settled in, he fell backwards and buried his head in his hands.

Yana dropped out of uni? Why? Was it really because of him? Was he at fault? Should he have clarified and showed his sincerity sooner? But wasn't that ridiculous? Just yesterday they talked and-

Luka instantly pulled out his phone and tried to contact Yana before Mia swatted it away, "It's useless, she won't pick up."

Luka stared at his phone lying a few metres away and then at Mia who pissed got up and left him behind.

Yana has disappeared. There was only one way for Luka to really confirm and that was to head to her place.

Yet as he arrived, no one answered and the neighbour said that Yana had moved out yesterday night.

So, Yana left his life. Luka's worst fear has come true. Would Luka be able to see her ever again? If Luka asked his parents, he could possibly locate her but was that what she wanted?

Luka didn't understand why she left but if she, at this point, wanted to leave then Luka would go and see her when they were both ready.

And for that Luka had to change and become a better person. A person at his peak that could give Yana everything she wanted, through his own means and not his parents.

Just a bit longer, he'd find her and have her in his life again.

So, wait for me, Yana.

The phone blinked in Yana's hands for the nth time. The display lit up and Yana saw all the messages and calls she missed. Especially Luka's and Mia's. Yana knew it was an awful move for her to dump Luka and not get back to him. However, she wanted to cut all ties with the past.

Yana was going to become a new person. She was going to change. For the truth, for her parents, for her revenge. This was a new turning point in her life. A new life in general.

"Throw the phone away," Roy saw the phone in Yana's hands and pointed at the trash bin in the sandy field. Yana nodded.

With one last glance, she discarded the phone and cut all ties with the past.

The sight that unfolded before Yana was akin to a desert. The training ground was surrounded by a large field and measured to at least a radius of 500 metres. Several people in uniforms ran around and on stands there were boxes filled with weapons.
