"You know what you got to do?" Mr K rolled down the window after he closed the car door.

Carol nodded. Her blank face showed no emotions, "Yes, I also don't like her. I'll help you get rid of her."

Mr K was satisfied and left. It was a huge advantage to have a spy who could follow everything Yana did and report to them. It was even better to have someone who detested Yana.

Mr K took a call, "What's up? You got something?"

"No," a nervous voice appeared.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, we could find everything about her up until the last 5 years. Then it seemed like she had completely vanished and reappeared out of nothingness."

Mr K rubbed his head, "How could this be? I'm fucking paying you, so do a good job!"

"I-I'm sorry but that's already the most I could do. Even if you ask others, you won't get any other results."

Mr K grit his teeth. Yana. Who the hell was she? There was no way in hell a person could vanish without a single trace of activities for the past 5 years and then seamlessly blend in with society again. Something was fishy. Maybe... Mr K didn't want to think of this possibility. But she could have a strong backer.

Even a stronger one that the CEO of M.M?

"Ha, that bitch really loves to sleep around."

Mr K contacted Mr S and Mr M but both of their results were the same. They couldn't find any useful information on Yana.

The next day, the orphanage was surprised with the rare visit of a married couple. The director has received a notice beforehand, then because of all the things that have been going on recently, Yana forgot about it. In the first place, if the director wasn't sure about the orphanage's future, he should've cancelled the meeting.

Thus it was a surprise for Yana and the other staff when the couple showed up. Yana remained professional and showed them around. The orphanage housed only young children from infant until the oldest was 12. Luckily the children never had to stay longer past the age of 12 and were successfully adopted.

Despite orphanages having a bad stigma due to all the mistreatment and neglect most orphans experienced, this orphanage was a bit better off. Even though it was small and financially hugely lacking compared to the others in the country, the director and staff greatly cared about the children.

That was until the director decided to run off with the money. Yana was in the middle of introducing the couple to the regulation when she spotted something out of her eye corners.

"Please read through the documents first. There's something I have to check," Yana excused herself and caught Melinda, "Meli can you take over for me? There's something I have to make sure of."

Melinda has done this many times and was more experienced than Yana, so it was no problem for her to continue.

Melinda nodded and disappeared into the office. Yana walked up to the stairs to the second floor and just as she expected she briefly caught the white strands of hair she previously saw.

Yana's senses were heightened due to all the practice she was put through so she already knew that Carol had been eavesdropping yesterday night. Although Yana barely interacted with Carol, she could see that despite Carol's usual indifference and reluctance to interact with everyone, she was acting suspiciously.

If Yana could, she would've wanted to keep out of any matters, however, Yana couldn't help but feel that Carol's behaviour was due to her. Either way, whatever it was Yana had to get rid of the nagging suspicion.

The second floor was where some superfluous stuff was stored, and where Yana's and Carol's bedroom were, while Melinda and Seli lived with the children on the first floor. The second floor was also used as a storage place. Any kind of stuff, not just food, was put here. In a sense, the second floor acted as an attic.

When Yana arrived at the top of the stairs, she just witnessed Carol disappearing into her room. At this time Carol usually took care of the children with Seli while Melinda did the chords and Yana showed the couple around.

Having Seli alone supervise the children was too much for a sole person to handle. Yana approached Carol's room and heard her saying, "Stay here. Don't come out until I tell you to."

Who was she talking to? Just as Yana wanted to knock, Carol opened the door. Her usual emotionless face had slight panic flashing across and Carol quickly closed the door a bit but Yana already saw what Carol was trying to hide.

"Why are Lily and Timmy in your room?" Yana's sharp gaze caused Carol to flinch. She could see that Carol was trying to hide something. Why would she keep the two children in her room until she told them to come out? Could it be that Carol was abusing them?

Not waiting for Carol's answer, Yana said, "Lily, Timmy come here."

The children hesitatingly looked at Carol before running to Yana. Yana knelt and patted their heads, "Did Carol do something to you?"

They shook their head while something unexpected happened.

"I'd never do anything bad to the children!" the quiet Carol actually shouted at Yana. A hateful expression contorted her beautiful face. Yana was taken aback but remained firm, "Then why did you want to lock them up?"

"Does it have anything to do with you?" for the first time Yana heard hostility in Carol's voice.

"Obviously," Yana crossed her arms in front of her chest and kicked the door open as Carol tried to close it, "You forcefully took the children away and even wanted them to stay hidden in your room? Carol, anyone with eyes can see that what you are doing is bad."

"Forcefully? Don't make me laugh! Lily, Timmy, was I forceful?" right now Carol was almost hysterical. The children lowered their heads before shaking it.

"See," a proud smug appeared on Carol's face. So, was this Carol's true nature? It was weird experiencing this.

Yana pulled the children closer to her but then-

"Don't touch them!" Carol wanted to take them back, only for Yana to coldly swat her hands away, "Lily, Timmy did you want to go with Carol?"

"We...wanted to play."

"Then did this happen before?"

Lily shook her head.

"This is the first time that s- Carol did it," but the way Lily glanced at Carol made Yana worry.

"Ok, you two go back to Seli, I'll talk to Carol."

"Talk to me what?" Carol spoke up after the children left.

Yana could see that her hateful glint only grew. Oh boy, Yana had the incredible urge to slap some sense into Carol.

Was Yana at fault?

Was she?

...

No.
