In an office-like room, Yana sat at a desk and took the cup Roy gave her. The computer in front of her was on. Roy threw a glance at it and put his hand on his waist.

He wore a back uniform that resembled at some parts a suit while Yana wore a casual attire.

"Are you watching the news?" Roy sipped on his tea and followed the reports on the world situation.

Yana nodded, "Do you need me to be there for the training?"

"Not yet. Rest for a while but then come down," Roy's blank face showed no emotion as he left. Yana bit her lip when she turned her attention back to the news report.

Currently, it seemed like everything was going well but Yana and everyone else here knew better. The news all revolved around Country A and Country B finally finalising their weapon deal and signing the peace treatment, while in other parts of the world the situation threatened to escalate.

However, to not have war breaking out, several more peace treaties were in consideration but with several borders being at tension between the countries, it was pressed. Yet around the world, especially in metropolitan cities like City M, the public didn't care about it.

Yana stirred her drink and started typing up a report, however, her attention was divided. The news anchor's loud voice echoed in the empty room where only Yana was present.

Sitting at the window, Yana had a whole view of the training ground in the middle of this seemingly desert.

"More critical situations arise," the news anchor continued, "The oil prices are fluctuating, threatening to reach their highest since 2002. Country C where most of the oil resources are harvested refuses to share its oil and is about to break the treaty it has with several countries.

In demand of the oil, country C has given an ultimatum to Country E to pull its soldiers out of Country C. As most know, Country C-"

Yana stopped typing for a brief second and saw Roy heading to the training ground. His back was turned to Yana and he was talking to some soldiers. The sun hung high in the sky and Yana sighed.

Her new life here wasn't too bad. It was hard work but rewarding. What Yana wanted before has drastically changed. With only one sentence from Roy, all of Yana's casual and mediocre wishes for the future were blown away. No more nonsense of finding a normal job and living just to eat.

When Roy told Yana about her parents' murder and the culprits behind it and Yana's role, what she could do, Yana didn't feel helpless or shocked. Instead, in the middle of the restaurant, an intense rage and hatred filled her.

She has never thought she'd feel something akin to it, after all, she viewed the world in a bubble and tried to be as cheerful as possible, but if Yana was honest she was afraid of her own feelings.

Some part of her longed to go back to the careless days and see her friends again where her only worry was to get Luka to work with her on the research project. Yana didn't even know how the project went. Her professor must've disappointed her as well as Mia and Luka how she left them with no notice.

But on the other side, this new life might be her destiny. Something she wasn't aware of herself was slumbering inside of her, waiting to be released and let out.

Yana continued to type and surpressed the thoughts that dangerously swirled inside her head. Her fingers twitched when the news anchor changed the topic.

"Several conglomerates, under them the prestige L.H. company, went bankrupt all of a sudden. They were in the talks of being bought out by an unknown party. No other information has been revealed but inside leaks have confirmed that the chairman of L.H. will be discussing with the unknown party about creating a new company called Nixo. Meanwhile-"

The world was starting to change. Many may think this news was minor or will pass but soon enough they will discover that their thoughts were naïve.

Nothing will be alright, Yana typed the last sentence before debating if she should delete it or not, however, the news didn't stop.

One huge bomb after another was dropped, "Many of the research centres of the governments and independent ones that have been stopped due to the lack of funding and support, have now found a generous sponsor and will continue their research. No reports of confirmation have been made about the sponsor but the government has stated that-"

Yana shut the computer off and walked outside. In the end, writing the report was useless. All that mattered was for Yana to train and grow stronger. Whatever will happen to her world will happen. It was inevitable but not unmanageable.

That was why Yana was here.

"Are you done?" Roy walked over to Yana when he saw her and strapped a bulletproof vest around his upper body. He handed Yana one, "Are you sure, you don't want to change first?"

Roy was a prim and proper person. He valued rules over anything and seeing Yana in her casual clothes and not a uniform distressed him.

"I'm fine," Yana knew of his tendencies and grinned. It was fun poking at his sore spot, "You'll be fine too."

Yana strapped the vest on and looked around, "It's hot."

"Bear with it," Roy led her to a small stand with a table full of weapons, "What do the news say?"

"Not very good but can you change it?"

Roy stopped and looked at her, "We don't have much of a choice."

Yana sighed. Roy was right. They had no other choice. While the public was still clueless, no one knew that this was the beginning of the end.
