M.M. company. The proud jewel City M flaunted amongst all the other jewels. Standing proud and tall in the middle of this bustling metropolitan city.
Yana stepped out of the black bentley she was chauffeured in. Her black high heels clicked on the ground and her neat office attire perfectly hugged her figure, causing people to turn their heads in her direction.
Yana looked at the tall glass building that just screamed of being posh and merciless. Uncomfortably, Yana pulled on her skirt. Never in her life would she have imagined wearing something like this, making her look like she was an office assistant.
When the driver picked Yana up, he arrived an hour earlier and told Yana to wear the clothes Luka picked out for her. A note was attached and that was to be presentable.
It was useless for her to look the part when she had no idea about how to act in the meeting. On the phone she asked Luka to tell her what to do so she could prepare herself for what was to come but he only left her hanging with a "Just follow your guts."
Yana let anger boil up again as she remembered how damn useless he was. If she were to really follow her guts as he suggested her to, she'd burn down this whole building together with Luka. Enjoying seeing his demise right in front of her.
Taking a deep breath, Yana approached the large entrance that was guarded by two men in black.
Seeing Yana's appearance, they nooded and opened the door for her. As Yana passed them, she left behind the pleasant smell of sensual flowers with a "Thank you."
The building's interior was similar to what she has expected. People needed an ID to pass through the small gates that denied entrance to strangers.
The reception, made out of white marble, was positioned proudly in the middle of the entrance hall. From outside, the sun shone through the blue glass dying everything in water, causing the shadows to move like waves.
At the reception, two beautiful females sat. Yana took another deep breath and approached them. One of the females looked up and smiled, "How can I help you?"
"Hello, I'm here for a meeting," Yana quickly said her name.
She hoped that Luka at least informed the reception she'd come so she wouldn't get stuck here or be disdained like how it typically was.
"Yes, please wait a second. Someone will come to pick you up. In the meantime, please wear this name tag so you can be verified," the receptionist handed Yana a golden name tag. It was engraved with her name.
Yana's face blanked. Just how much money did the company waste on such trivial stuff? Couldn't they just use a normal name tag to pin it on her clothes? Well, what else was expected out of such an expensive place?
The good thing was that the staff here seemed very friendly. None of the arrogant people who'd look down at her. At least at the moment. Or maybe Yana just watched and read too many of those cliché stories.
"Please have something to drink,'' the receptionist even handed Yana a cup of water as she sat on the cushion next to the reception.
"Thank you."
Or maybe Luka told them to be nice?
But then again why would he do that? He even admitted he wanted to make her life hell.
Yana crossed her long and slender legs attracting the attention of some male employees. She ignored them and blew a strand of hair out of her face.
How much longer did she have to wait? Just at that thought, a voice sounded behind her, "Miss Yana, hello. Please follow me."
Yana turned to see the young male she first talked to at the orphanage. Now that she actually paid attention to him, he could be described as cute.
He had short brown hair and pouty cheeks giving him a baby face. His brown eyes were warm and big and had a certain charm to bring out a female's protective side.
On the other hand, the assistant disliked Yana a lot but seeing her in formal office attire, he had to admit he could see why his boss liked her so much to the point he spent searching for her for the past three years.
No, made him, the poor assistant, overwork to find her. The assistant grumbled under his breath as he brought Yana to the lift. It was faint but Yana could still hear it.
She realised she had treated him pretty badly during their first meeting. They entered the lift and he pressed the 78th floor. This was an opportunity for Yana, now that it was only the two of them.
"I'm sorry, I missed your name," Yana smiled at him as he quickly changed his face to a kind smile as well, "Please call me Bao, Miss Yana."
Bao... Bun? That... fitted him very well.
"There's no need to be so polite to me. I apologise for the time at the orphanage. I didn't mean to come over as harsh or rude. I hope you can forgive my behaviour."
Bao was pleasantly surprised. He didn't think Yana would apologise. She has earned some brownie points from him.
"Don't worry, I don't mind. I can understand where you were coming from. The orphanage must mean a lot to you, Miss Yana."
Bao still addressed her quite politely. He'd never ever address her informally. His boss would skin him alive. Brutally. Bao loved his life too much, even if he was a pathetic slave of his boss. The small ones could strive hard too!
Yana watched the profile of Bao and was tempted to pinch his cheeks, "Thanks, Bao."
Bao whipped to her in surprise. Why was she so quickly familiar with him? A strange woman. One second she was cold and the other she was as warm as sunshine.
Bao quietly narrowed his eyes. He couldn't trust her. This woman might be dangerous.
Yana noticed the change in his face again. He was a hilarious teasing target. If Luka made her frustrated, she could vent it out on Bao.
It was bad but he was just so gullible and cute looking.
"We're here," Bao led her in front of a meeting room where the glass walls were covered with curtains, so they couldn't look into the room.
"Thank you," the door opened and Yana took a deep breath.
Then a small smile formed on her lips.
