(TW: mention of death, starvation)
The same four fifteen feet walls were what the princess saw every day for eighteen years, until she decided to make a change.
She was a woman of her word to the people, but could she keep her promise to he she would one day marry?
The prince was not sure either, but he needn't complain. His love for her was restricted, if it were even there.
"Why must you go so early?" Prince Hyungseo called to her, his voice echoing off of the very walls she felt trapped within.
"I have some things to do," Princess Dallia turned on her heels, reminding her that she would soon have to change them into more comfortable attire. "And I'm sure an early night would not hurt for yourself, Kevin."
"Are you implying that I do not get enough sleep?" The man huffed, earning a light laughter from the princesses lips.
"Your eyes do tell," she nods, as the man acts offended. "We will see each other soon, I hope."
The prince strolled over to her, resting his hand delicately on the side of her face, caressing her gently as though she would break any minute. "Soon is quite frankly not soon enough."
"Patience," Dallia said with knowing eyes, looking up at the handsome man.
He was everything she had expected to one day marry, but she had simply wished she had a choice in the matter. Something was missing between them, and she had thought for years she could not quite put her finger on it.
Although, with enough thought, she would soon realise that the things they had in common were the things that would keep them from being happy together.
They were royalty, they were destined for this life. A life where their love was not their choice, where their true feelings would be punishable, and where they would simply have to persevere with these facts.
"I'll be here tomorrow," he announced, as the girl looked up at him in wonder. "Your father invited me."
"Did he specify what for?" Dallia stood up a little straighter, gently throwing her hair away from her shoulders.
"You really shouldn't do that," the prince sighs, fixing the girls hair as it had became mess at the back. "And no, he did not."
"I have you to fix it for me," she joked with a small smile, the man returning it as he raised an eyebrow.
"No, that is why you have a chaperone," he corrected her as she rolled her eyes. "If you keep doing that, your eyes will stick like that, m'am."
She was unlike any other princess he had met, and frankly - that is why he settled for her. She was interesting enough for him to dedicate his life to, there would barely be a dull day with her around.
