Hyunjae found himself looking forward to hearing the pitter patter of the girls feet creeping up on him from between the trees.

The adventures into the village were becoming opportunities to get closer to the princess, finding himself being dragged in and immersed by the grace she held.

She was a princess, for that matter, but he knew that was not the reason she was this way.

He would watch as she sat calmly in the grass, simply not saying a word as she watched her sister fall in love all over again before her very eyes.

It was enchanting to see people this way, to both of them, but he understood the importance to the princess.

She was watching what she feared she would never have, and even though her sister had it - she wouldn't have it forever.

"To be young," Dallia chuckled as Hyunjae took a seat beside her, flattening out the creases in her dress.

"We are eighteen," the boy points out. "Don't tell me we're considered to be old."

"For a princess, that is," she shrugged, picking at the daisies. "Maybe not for you."

"I'll be old the day I marry," he chuckled. The girls back jerked a little, showing a small laugh escaped her mouth followed by her head falling slightly.

"I do not wish to marry," she admitted, not quite sure why she felt she could tell the boy this, or if she even should.

But she knew her secrets were safe with him, he had made that more than clear and proved himself for some time now. "Why is that?"

"All my life I thought love would make me happy, but over these last few years, despite not having that love," Dallia rambled, fidgeting with her fingers. "I realised that even when I do find it, it shall be taken from me."

Hyunjae nodded slowly, feeling honoured that she could share such secrets with him. He would keep his promise even beyond this life.

"Look at your sister," he said with a smile, the princess glancing over with slightly narrow eyes. "I believe you're being skeptical, princess."

"Is that so?" She chuckled, looking over to see Areum and Changmin sitting cuddled up against the brick wall.

"That is so," Hyunjae nodded confidently. "I understand your position, and I don't disregard how you feel about the matter. But how can you say such things when you haven't given it a chance?"

"I very much have," she half-lied. "With Prince Hyungseo."

Her words were only partially true, for she had tried hard to love him but gave up relatively early on. She realised that forcing a love would be her way of life, but there was no use in the sleepless nights she spent worrying about the matter.
