The prince stared in disbelief at the princess before him. Her hands trembled although she was not the one wearing ivory on this day.

Her plain, pale indigo dress made her look just as beautiful as Kevin could have imagined her to be.

"I don't understand," Hyungseo's face furrowed in confusion. "Where is she?"

Areum stayed silent, staring at the ring bearer pillow in her hands. She clenched her eyes, praying that her body would still for just a moment.

Upon opening her eyes again, she could feel the eyes of many resting on her.

"Archbishop," Kevin's mother stood up from the aisle, her face wretched in more than just uncertainty. "Has my son been jilted?"

"I-I cannot be sure-" the man started, before a cardinal who burst through the side door came jogging over. "Bare with us just a moment."

The princess tapped her foot nervously, her sister's words from earlier ringing in her ears.

They weren't here yet, and Areum was now sure that they would not be appearing any time soon.

She watched as the two men conversed deeply, their eyes wandering towards the only two who stood at the altar right now.

Until her eyes focussed on the man before her, who didn't dare to take his eyes off of her. "Are you alright?"

"Yes," Areum smiled weakly, her eyes desperately trying not to shift. "I'm okay."

"Promise?" Kevin tilted his head ever so slightly, and the girl could have sworn she felt her heart slowly begin to melt.

The girl nodded, sucking in a deep breath as they smiled warmly at each other. So warmly that they hoped no one else in the room would be able to take notice of such.

The two tore their eyes from one another as the Archbishop took to the podium again, glancing nervously at the small crowd.

"We have received word that Princess Dallia shall not be in attendance of the wedding today," he started, causing a sea of gasps. "And that she, and her father, your majesty the King, wish for the wedding not to go ahead."

Areum watched nervously as the boys parents dropped their heads, muttering something incoherent with a distraught look upon their faces.

She knew how much it would have meant to them for their son to be married into their family, and therefore she couldn't blame them for reacting this way.

"We would like to leave this decision lingering momentarily and allow the parents of the groom to consider their options," he continued. "We ask everyone to remain seated, silent and respectful."

Hyungseo turned to his mother and father, their faces laced with nothing less than sadness and confusion.

The sight broke his heart, but as he turned to look at the princess before him, he slowly felt the pieces coming together again.
