"For a meal?" Dallia asked, trailing after her sister as she walked around her room. "They have invited us?"
"Is that so hard to believe?" Areum chuckled, sitting down on her dresser chair.
"It is," the eldest nodded, furrowing her eyebrows in disbelief. "I don't think I can accept food from them, Areum."
The younger looked at her in confusion, clearly not as bothered by the situation as she was. "Why not?"
"First our father takes their money, now they offer us a meal," she spoke, shaking her head. "I don't feel good about taking from them again."
"They are offering," Areum reiterated. "Don't worry about it."
The princess nodded, looking around the room deep in thought as her sister glanced over, knowing fine well her siblings mind was ticking.
Her mind was always ticking, especially these days. Everyone in the castle could see it.
"Okay then," Dallia spoke eventually, shrugging carelessly as she walked towards the door. "I'll see you tonight, then?"
"The great escape," her sister sighed dramatically, the two laughing as the elder exited the room.
She walked slowly towards her room, chewing her bottom lip gently as her eyes wandered the halls, noticing that the castle was quiet today.
"Where is my father?" She asked one of the guards, who looked at the other with a blank expression.
"We cannot inform you of the kings position," he spoke, making the girl scoff.
She hated to be rude to anyone who worked within the castle, they were just as much of a slave to this place as she was, so she grudged being anything short of nice to them.
It wasn't their faults, she knew this was her fathers instructions. "He is my father, I would like to know."
"In here," the voice of the kings retinue echoed, making the girl squeeze through the tightly knit guards as she opened the door for herself.
Upon the bed lay her father, two women and a man by his side, a wet cloth upon his head.
"What's wrong?" Dallia asked, her eyebrows knotting as she looked at her father strangely.
"The king is ill, a flu, is all," the man she assumed to be a doctor spoke, her father coughing gently from the bed. "He shall recover in a few days, he needs rest and to stay away from anyone within the castle."
"Okay," the princess answered simply with a light shrug. "Get better soon, father."
With that, she left as easily as she entered. It wasn't that she didn't care for her fathers health, she just found it difficult to care generally for the man who had made her life hell.
