"A holiday?" Areum's voice leaked of confusion, her head tilting cutely which made her older sister giggle.
"Yes, a holiday of sorts," the king confirmed, glancing at the two who smiled willingly at the man. "This is not an escape nor freedom, you two."
"I didn't think we would be allowed to go on holiday," Dallia shrugged, her fathers eyebrow raising at her. "What?"
"This is not a prison, Dallia," her father sighed at the girls comment. He expected it from her, nonetheless. "Since I will not be there, I expect you both to be on your best behaviour for the Lee's."
The mere mention of the family made both the princesses perk up, neither of them looking at each other nor saying anything to give too much away. Although Areum was sure her sister was ecstatic.
"The Lee's?" The younger eventually asked, her father nodding in response. "Why are we to go with them, father?"
"They were kind enough to offer," the king explained, turning his back as Dallia smiled to herself. "Their annual holiday last year could not go ahead due to plans I had made and I needed them available, so this year I have granted them two holidays."
The elder bit her tongue. She wanted so badly to sarcastically comment on the matter.
"We have placed them in a luxury hotel in the east coast," their father continued, turning to face the girls. "The place is quiet and relaxing, very private. A nice trip is the least I can offer you both before things change around here."
Things would change, he was right, it's just the princess didn't want to hear it nor think about it.
"You will leave tomorrow," he announced, the girls looking at each other in confusion. "Go and get sorted."
The princesses left with his orders, the two walking casually by the guards before turning to face each other with smiles upon their faces.
"This will be so fun," Areum gushed, jumping up and down lightly on her feet. "Two weeks away from this place."
"I know," Dallia smiled with her, her legs feeling like they could fall away from her at any given moment. "With the Lee's, too."
"Great family," the younger nodded slowly, wriggling her eyebrows at her sister who smacked her playfully, the two giggling loudly.
They walked slowly back to their rooms, the elder turning to glance at her sister. "Won't you miss him?"
Areum nodded slowly, her heart sinking when she realised she would be away from him for two weeks.
It wasn't the longest she had went without seeing Changmin, but it was long enough to make her dread the trip that she wanted so desperately to enjoy.
"Meet tonight?" Dallia whispered, reading the girls face. She nodded back eagerly, excited to see him. "See you then."
Dallia wandered around the woods aimlessly. Winter was still fully in place, although these past few days didn't really feel like it.
