"Stop fidgeting with it."
For once, the elder sister was the one being told off as she couldn't sit still. "It feels heavy."
"It is simply a veil, a mere piece of fabric," Areum laughed lightly, watching as the girl grimaced whilst looking in the mirror. "You look beautiful, you needn't make that face."
Dallia smiled weakly, although she didn't believe it one bit. She looked okay, but above all - she looked unhappy.
It pained her that this day had finally come.
For years, she had envisioned her wedding day to be the grandest day of all.
She would wake up in a bed of flowers and silk bed sheets, the birds singing her a song as she woke as though to congratulate her on making it to this day - the best day of her life.
Instead, she woke up with a headache and a threatening nausea that would surely make the day even more unbearable.
Her hair was the closest thing to perfect, and that was purely because it was the work of someone who was professional. Everything else was left to the sisters, and the eldest struggled to even apply rouge. "I can do it."
"Let me do one thing for you today," Areum groaned as she looked at her stained fingers. "Cheeks and lips?"
"That's the general idea," Dallia giggled, closing her eyes as her sister dabbled upon her face. "I cannot wait for this to be over with."
"You and me both..." the younger mumbled.
When Dallia felt the air around her empty, she opened her eyes to see her sister fidgeting with something else upon the dresser. "I'm sorry."
"Why?" Areum turned on her heels, a concerned look upon her face.
"I've been so concerned with how much I don't want to do this, that I didn't stop to think about how much you probably do not want to see this."
The younger smiled sadly, shaking her head. "It's your day. You should not worry about me."
Silence overcame the two again. Dallia sat with that same sulking posture, whilst her sisters eyes travelled her face from different angles to make sure she looked as close to perfect as she could make her.
Their fathers coughs could be heard from the other room, but the girls stayed silent. The sound of him struggling had became something they were used to by now. "Dallia?"
"Yes?" The princess opened her relaxed eyes to see her sister looking at her wearily. "Please tell me what troubles you."
"I really love him," Areum smiled sadly, her sisters eyes softening. "And I know because I have felt this way before. With Changmin, it was all the same, except this time - it's stronger."
"I understand," Dallia nodded, taking her hand. "I wish I knew how to make it better."
With a deep breath, the younger closed her eyes. "Father will be gone soon. You will be queen, we will have no one to answer to."
