"Are you ready to set out on your hunt?" King Barnold asked as he sat in his throne.

"Yes, your majesty." I kept my head down in respect.

"This is the Max you are trusting your affairs with if something dreadful were to happen?" I assumed he motioned to Max bowing next to me.

"Yes, your majesty."

"Evan, leave the formalities in front of the crowds. You are my friend. Rise and knock it off." He began laughing.

"Yes, old friend." I smirked as I stood up, his face held the same smirk as mine. I looked over to Max who was looking to me with confusion.

"Max, you may relax. Any friend of Evans is a friend of mine. By ourselves like this I am just a friend that wears some jewels on my head, similar to a fool." He laughed standing up and walking towards us.

"Y-yes sir?" She stood up and the feeling of uneasiness spread on her face.

"You are a sight for sore eyes. Has Evan asked you yet?" He winked to me and stood directly in front of her.

"Wait, what?"

"Ah, nevermind. I'm sure he has since I see that ring on your finger." He nudged me as he laughed.

"Your Majesty." A gaurd walked in closing the doors behind him.

"Yes Arthor?"

"We are ready to depart on your and Evans orders."

"Alright. Arthor you need to remember Max will be leading you as well since she is so close to the mission as well."

"Understood sir." He had an irritated look on his face as he bowed.

"When you two are ready. I hope to see you soon old friend." Barold gave me a quick hug. He hated sending me out on a suicide mission but his advisor demanded it be me so we could have a winning chance of arresting that damned killer.

"Max, I'm not sure if Evan told you or not but my father raised us together as children and since my father is not here. I give you two my blessing." He grabbed ahold of her and held her tight in his arms. She seemed confused but tears had swelled in her eyes before she wrapped her arms around him.

"Thank you."

---Maxs POV---

"We're supposed to be heading east from the Navokin trail." Arthor argued with me during one of our stops at an inn.

"I'm aware, but if we continue that route he'll see us coming. We need to head north and then south east once we reach the summit. We'll have the high ground and he won't expect us."

"That'll stretch the hunt for two weeks. We do not have the time nor the resources to take that route."

"We can get more resources before we enter the mountains. We have at least two months, we can spare another two weeks if we want to not just win this fight but survive it as well." I slammed my hands down on the table.

"Just because you're related to the psycho doesn't mean you know his every move. My brothers may trust you but I do not!" He screamed in my face yanking the map from under my hands still on the table.

"Brothers?"

"Arthor is the kings younger brother and the main kings gaurdsman. He's not a very.. welcoming man." Evan scratched the back of his neck.

"Oh, that's nice to know. Another guy I have to protect." I sighed and stood up straight.

"I do not need protecting from the likes of you." He scoffed before exiting the room.
