---Narrators POV---
--Somewhere in the south of the Capital--

"Father?" Eric asked over the phone, all he could hear was the dial tone ringing.

"Of course.. I'd expect nothing else.." He hung up the phone his father would always call, and hang up the second he heard someone answer. It was how he knew his family was safe.

"Is it that weird number again?" Erics mother, Lillian, walked in the door.

"Y-yeah.." He shook his dissappointment, his mother refused to believe it was her husband. She believed him to be dead but had no heart to tell her only son.

"I hope that they send us a check for the phone bill. This is becoming ridiculous." She chuckled sitting in her chair.

"Yeah.. I'm gonna go to work. Love you mom." Eric kissed her cheek and rushed out the door. He was raised to be an honest man, at least with his family, however small it may be.

"Eric!" Clara yelled as she chased him down.

"Oh, hey Clara." He smiled. She was his annoying neighbor ever since he could remember, he's never found a way to avoid her successfully quite yet.

"Did you hear? There's gonna be an A squad coming to our street for patrolling!" She yelled excited.

"What? We don't have any crime here though?"

"Yes we do. An elderly lady who lives on the corner was robbed just yesterday. It's low crime but it's still crime." She propped her head up as she always did everytime she corrected someone.

"Wasn't that her son? She didn't report it because of that right? So it's not really a crime."

"It was a crime, no one's allowed to break into someone elses home even if they're your mom." She crossed her arms in frustration.

"Fine, it was a crime. Can I leave now?" He rolled his eyes and turned and bega n walking as fast as his legs could carry him.

"You already know we have to go in the same direction. I don't know why you're still trying to avoid me." She kept her arms crossed and walked fast enough to match his speed.

"Because I'd like some silence before I have to work for once." He mumbled to himself.

"What was that?" She asked looking at him with squinting eyes.

"Clara, can I have five minutes of silence before you start trying to shatter my brain?"

"Fine, don't expect me to keep being your friend when you treat me so rudely!" She huffed before walking ahead of him.

"I'll keep that in mind." He rolled his eyes and slowed his walking so he could have enough distance from her.

--24 hours later--

"Eric! You're going to be late if you don't get going!" His mother yelled up to him as she noticed the clock ticking.

"I don't have to work today. Todays my day off!" He yelled down the stairs.

"Then help me do the yard work please! Those dang weeds are getting everywhere!"

"Yes mom! I was getting ready to do that right now!" He finished putting his shoes on and stood up.

"Did you see the squad yet? They look so small." He ran down the stairs to see his mom peeking through the curtains.

"What do you mean small?"

"Well, the girl stationed right in front of us, she looks small, she doesn't look very old." She continued to look out the window, her curiosity growing.
