"So you get to see your mom tomorrow?" Brady asked as I tossed my bag on his bed.
"Yeah. Since I'll be eighteen I'll have the chance to go in there. So starting tomorrow we won't be able to study daily like we have been."
"So make use of today before it's every monday wednesday and the weekends. Got it." He plopped on his bed and started going through his bag.
"We need to go over pages one-fifty to two sixty to catch you up to the course."
"I've already gotten up to two-hundred last night after you left." I sighed and stretched.
"You already did over half the work yourself? Mind if I go over your work while you finish the rest of it?"
"That's fine. Here." I grabbed my journal out of my bag and tossed it to him before grabbing my book. As I opened it my phone started ringing.
"Let it go, you have work to do." Brady tried to snatch my phone from my hands.
"It's my aunt. I never dodge her calls, no matter what." I stood up and walked to the otherside of the room. "Auntie? I'm studying at Bradys, didn't I already tell you?"
"You need to come to the hospital. I know you hate driving but you need to get here soon, it's your mom."
---Bradys POV---
"O-okay, I'll be there as soon as I can.. are you sure I'll have to drive? Is there enough time for a taxi or?.. Okay, I understand. I'll be there soon." She hung up the phone.
"Is everything alright?" I asked as she turned around with tears swelling in her eyes.
"N-no, somethings wrong with my mom, the doctor said I need to be there in case it's my last chance to say goodbye. I have to go." She scrambled to collect all her stuff.
"Do you want me to drive you? Driving hysterical like you are isn't going to end well."
"Would you? You'd be a real help." She pleaded struggling to shove all her stuff in her bag.
"Yeah, we can take my bike. I have a spare helmet." I went to dig around in my closet.
"I'll meet you outside, I'm going to drop my stuff off at home." She ran out the door of my room. After finding my spare helmet my mom came in the room.
"I thought you two were supposed to be studying? Why did she run out crying?"
"We were, she needs to go to the hospital to see her mom. The doctor called so I'm going to drop her off with her aunt there now. You don't mind me taking off right?"
"If this is another lie Brady I swear.."
"Swear what mom? You already know her mom is in the hospital. I know you and I don't get along very much but there's no reason to expect that kind of behavior from her. I lie to you to get away from home yes but that doesn't make her a liar." I scoffed as I walked past her.
"You ungrateful boy. You're not going anywhere. Her mom's in a coma, it's not like she's going anywhere anytime soon." She followed me out.
"Mom, I don't like you. I really don't and it hurts me to admit that but if you were in the hospital, I can promise you I'd be right there to make sure you're okay. Just because I don't like you doesn't mean I want to see you suffer and what you just said. You want Rose to suffer because of me. Grow up." I yelled at her as I walked out the front door and grabbed my bike out of the garage. As I started it up Rose came running out with her purse.
"Brady wait!" My mom called out as Rose put on the helmet.
"Hurry."I grabbed her arms as she threw her leg over the side, before my mom could get to us I reved the engine and left my mom standing in the driveway.
