~Steve Rogers~

Me and dad were in the park, walking around and occasionally racing against each other. Almost every time he won.

"Come on kiddo, one more try" he says and I give in.

"Fine" I say tying my shoe laces and he smiles at me.

"Ready ?" he asks and I nod. "Go" he says and I sprint with all my might. I turn around to see I was ahead of him. I was too busy looking at him that I collided straight into someone. A lady. We both stumble a bit and I fall on my butt.

"Oh my god ! I'm so sorry" I say dusting off the dirt and looking at her apologetically.

"No problem. You're Y/N right ?" The lady asks and I look at her confused as to why she knew me.

"Uh-Yeah ? Who are you ?" I ask.

"Hey kiddo you alright ?" Dad asks standing behind me.

"Yeah, I'm fine" I say

"Mr. Rogers, nice to meet you" the lady says eyeing dad weirdly. We both look at each other confused out our minds.

"You asked me who I was right ?" She asks and I nod. "I'm your mother" she says and I gasp, I look up at dad and he looks white as a sheet of paper.

"W-What ?" I stutter "My mother died when I was a baby" I say repeating the story dad had told me. She scoffs loudly, rolling her eyes at me.

"Is that what the righteous Captain America told you ? Well sorry to burst your bubble sweetie but your mother is not dead, I'm right here. And as far as your father is concerned, he isn't your father. He took you from an abandoned orphanage" she says and my eyes well up with tears.

I turn around to face dad, with tears streaming down my face.

.

.

"Is this true dad ?" Y/N asks trying hard not to break out into sobs. My heart shatters as soon as the words leave her mouth. I promised to keep her away from hurt but I guess I hurt her really bad.

"Doll, I-" I begin and she breaks out in sobs. "So it is true" she says sniffing.

"See, I told you. Now quickly say your goodbyes, you're coming with me" The lady snarls and I quickly stand up to face her.

"WHAT ?!" Y/N screams. "Why am I coming with you ?" She asks in disbelief.

"He lied to you for 12 years and you're saying you still want to be with him, rather than me, your own mother ?"

"The mother who left me on those orphanage door in the first place" Y/N says wiping her tears. The lady doesn't respond so Y/N continues. She looks at me and holds my hand.

"He may not be my biological father, but he has been more of a parent than you ever will be. Were you there when I took my first steps ? No, he was. Were you the one recording when I said my first words ? No, he was. He was the one who calms me down when I have nightmares. He was the one who assured me there were no monsters under my bed. He bought me my first dress. He watches movies with me, sings with me and does whatever I want to. Most importantly - HE LOVES ME. He will never fail to show it. He thinks I don't notice when he drapes a blanket over me when I fall asleep on the couch, or how all my stuff always goes back into it's place if I fall asleep while doing my homework. He thinks I'm sleeping when he whispers "I love you" while tucking me in. But guess what ? I do notice it. I may not be as vocal about it as him but that doesn't mean I don't love him. I love him, with all my heart. And I'm glad I get to be his daughter. So if you still haven't gotten the idea, what I'm saying is - I won't go with you because you were never my mother but him ? He was and always will be my father"

As she finishes talking, tears were flowing freely down my cheeks. Her words, after coming out of the ice, I never in a million years would've imagined having a kid. But she changed everything for me. My daughter.

"Fine" the lady scoffs and leaves without even protesting. I feel two small arms wrap around my waist. I gently pick her up as she cries into my shoulder.

"I love you dad, so much. I'm sorry I don't tell you this often but today made me realize that maybe I should start saying it more often" she says sobbing into my neck.

"I love you too doll" I say gently stroking her hair. I start walking towards our favorite ice-cream place.

"Dad ?"

"Hmm ?"

"Promise me you'll be honest with me. Please. I don't want to lose you" she says barely above a whisper. I sit on  a bench nearby and make her face me.

"I promise sweetheart. I promise" I say and kiss her forehead.
