One snap.

One single snap changed your life. Everyone you grew up to love and adore were gone. Your Uncle Bucky, you saw him go, and it was a constant nightmare you woke up to every night.

Your best friend, Peter who never let you go, was gone. And you couldn't see him one last time. To say you were broken would be an understatement. You were hurting and the person you needed the most these days, your father, was delusional. You would hear him scream through his nightmares, you tried helping him but after a few nights he refused to let you in. He absolutely stopped coming out of his room. To say you lived alone won't be completely wrong.

You walked in to the house, the empty hallways and rooms making you weak in the knees. You were being continuously nagged by your teacher to bring your dad to at least one of the parent-teacher conference, but how the hell were you supposed to explain the whole situation to them ?

You filled a plate with food and slowly opened the door to your dad's bedroom. You sighed tiredly as you saw him curled up on his bed, the lights of the room switched off. You flicked on the lights earning a angry grumble from him.

"Dad, please you have to eat, shower, get out and take fresh air. How long are you planning on doing this for ?" you ask as you place the food on his table, walking around the room picking everything up from the floor.

Your hand touched a cool metal, you picked it up and tears brimmed your eyes as Uncle Bucky's dog tags shown proudly. You sighed and placed them in the drawer, suddenly Steve leaped out of the bed snatching them from your hands.

"WHY ARE YOU TOUCHING MY STUFF ?!" he yelled making you flinch and drop everything on the ground.

"I-I w-was just h-helping" you stutter

"I don't need your help okay ?! I'm fine and I don't even need you here ! It would've been better if you'd have disappeared instead !!" he yells as tears drip down your face.

"Maybe you're right" you whisper running out of the room and slamming the door shut. You lay on the couch, screaming in to the cushions.

.

.

Steve woke up with a jolt, as events of previous night came back as a nightmare. His eyes fell on the alarm clock beside him, which showed - 12 PM.

"Y/N ?" he called out but no response came. He walked over to the couch and his heart broke at the sight of the couch, cushions strewn all over the place, some still a little damp due to the tears.

His phone rang and thinking it to be you he picked up.

"Is this Mr. Rogers ?" a female voice spoke on the other end, making his heart sink.

"Yes, this is he" he says

"I'm speaking from Midtown High and I wanted to know the reason Y/N didn't attend today's parent-teacher conference. Usually she comes in alone, but she missed it completely today." she says

Was he really being such a burden on his poor daughter ? What had he done, where was she now ?

"She is sick today, I'm sorry I forgot to inform before hand" he says

"Oh okay, wish her a speedy recovery ! Have a nice day" she says ending the call.

Steve grabbed his jacket and walked out, for the first time in months. His eyes squinted at the bright sunlight. He drove to the park where boulders of the names of the vanished were written. His eyes instantly landed on the small figure sitting cross-legged near the stone with the names of all the vanished avengers written on it. He stopped when he heard her speak.

"So, yeah we had a little fight yesterday night. I don't blame him though, he's probably right Uncle Bucky, it would've been better if you stayed and I went. He would've been so much happier. How's Peter ? Uncle Sam ? Wanda ? Tell them I said hi. And I found my old Bucky Bear, you always loved how I used to sleep with it at night and now when you're not here, it's the only thing that reminds me of you. I hope you're okay wherever you are, I miss you Uncle Bucky"

A single tear rolls down his cheek as he realizes she's not talking to herself but she had dialled Bucky's number and was recording the voice mails.

"I'm sorry" he whispered sitting down beside Y/N. Her head slowly turned to him, her small arms wrapping themselves around his torso as she moved to his lap. She buried her face in the crook of his neck. She sobbed, for the first time in months, she broke down not caring who saw.

Steve rubbed his hand up and down her back, he knew he had to change, help her. Be a father again.

"I didn't mean anything I said earlier, please forgive me sweetheart" he says resting his forehead against her. She smiles tiredly and kisses his forehead.

"I know, I love you dad" she whispers nuzzling herself closer to his chest.

"I love you too sweetheart"
