y/n POV:

I was at Dalton Academy to pick up my brother Trent from The Warblers practice. He hadn't called me and it seemed like he was running late so I decided to go to the school to check and pick him up.

I earned a few weird glances from students as I walked down the hallway to the choir room, since I was the only girl in sight at an all boys school. But I didn't really care.

As soon as I entered the choir room I saw no one there except my best friend Sebastian, sitting on the couch, looking for some sheet music. He turned to face me as he heard my footsteps and his lips turned into a smile.

"Hi Y/n, what brings you to dalton?" he smiled. I shot a confused smile back at him: "hey seb, where is everyone?"
"The practice ended thirty minutes ago" he shrugged. My eyes widened: "oh. I was going to pick up Trent but-"
"I'm pretty sure Hunter gave him a ride home, don't worry about it" he said, still smiling widely.
I nodded my head slowly: "alright, I'll see ya around." I was getting ready to leave when: "hey y/n could you just stay for a sec?"
I turned around: "sure, what's up?"
Sebastian stood up and handed me a song:
"we, the warblers, were planning on singing this song for regionals. Could you maybe try it out with me?" He spoke. I looked at the song, "whistle" by: Flo rida. "Are you asking me to sing a duet with you right now smythe?" I smirked. He shot me a smirk back: "maybe I am y/n"

The song ended. We were standing just inches away from each other, out of breath. Sebastian looked right in my eyes, like he was staring at my soul.
"You like the song?" he said quietly as he got closer. "I- I uh" I stuttered, mesmerized.
Sebastian leaned in more and before our lips touched, I dodged my head away. Sebastian's lips quickly turned into a frown.
"I love it but- I don't know if it would be appropriate for you guys to sing at regionals" I said, covering my face with my hands. I couldn't see Sebastian's face but I could feel him looking confused and sad. I lifted my head up, locking eyes with him before taking a step back. "Sorry, I've got to go"
And with that, I left the room, leaving a devastated warbler at the choir room

It had been 3 weeks of me and Sebastian not speaking to each other. No talking, texting, calling, voicemails or even eye contact.
Every time I went to dalton to pick up Trent, he would ignore me at all times.

But one day I went back to dalton again and it was just like that day 3 weeks ago. Trent, nowhere to be seen but Sebastian in the choir room sitting on a couch, humming a song softly.

I walked into the room and seb noticed my presence, immediately feeling annoyed.
"Hi" I quietly greeted him. He stood up and was just about to leave the room, until I stopped him by grabbing him by his wrist:
"Wait" I said to him. He turned around. "you know we can't keep living like this!" I said, this time a little louder. Sebastian remained silent as he just stood there. "I miss you seb. You're my best friend and I love you!"
"Ok then why did you dodge when I tried to kiss you the other day?" he said, raising his voice.
I looked him dead in the eye.
"I know you love me y/n. But I really love love you. More than just best friends. And I want us to be the real thing."
My eyes widened. Did he just confess his love to me? A smile grew on my face: "I want you to know that me not kissing you doesn't mean that I don't like you. I was just nervous" I admitted quietly. "Heck, I've had a crush on you for years now!"
"You have?" He smiled. I nodded my head slowly: "Yeah, ever since Trent joined the warblers"
He took a step closer to me, his face now being only inches away from mine. "You have?" He smiled down at me.
"Yes" I whispered with a chuckle before pecking his lips, closing the gab between us.
I smiled as we pulled away. "And yeah, I would love more than anything, for us to be the real deal"
His smile grew wider: "You have no idea how long I've been wanting for you to say that" he said, before pulling me in for another
long, soft kiss.
