27: Family

"Where is Lisa?" Jisoo asked Chaeyoung, while she was fixing her blouse. She came a bit earlier but figured Lisa would be somewhere preparing for the appeal. If Lisa's parents opposed the emancipation, they would be forced to go to trial and lose to her. This was their only chance to finish things with peace.

It has been a couple of days since the halloween party and they were now in the first week of December. It also has been a couple of days since Lisa and Jennie had that awful argument in front of almost anyone that was paying attention. With exam preparations and the holidays coming, Lisa and Jennie haven't spoken to each other in a while.

"She is in the waiting room with Jennie." Chaeyoung told her and brushed her hands softy against her girlfriend's shoulders.

People who have grown to like and respect Lisa were all present. Jungkook, Joy, Sana, Taehyung and Irene had saved seats for the rest of their friends inside the court. Chaeyoung was outside with Jisoo waiting for Lisa, who was in the waiting room with Jennie and her lawyers. Even though the two of them fought that past night, that wouldn't serve as an excuse for Jennie not to support her girlfriend. They are there for each other, for the good times and the bad times.

"Now that's true love." Jisoo commented, noticing how much Lisa and Jennie cared for each other. She didn't know whether or not those two resolved their spat the other day, but judging by how Jennie had never left Lisa's side, she thought that they're ir okay now. Jisoo had seen them together and she honestly believed they are meant to be together. "Both of them love each other dearly. I wish many people could value the people they love, like those two do."

"I think they will probably only talk about the fight after the exam" Chaeyoung said, unknowingly correcting Jisoo's thought earlier. "With everything going on right now, all Jennie can do is support Lisa. It's not everyday that a child asks to be emancipated from their parents. Can you imagine what Lisa must be going through? She didn't even want to wait until she was 18 to be away from her parents. She had a rough childhood and a rough life. Hopefully it all ends today." Chaeyoung explained to Jisoo, knowing how this might affect Lisa.

In the waiting room, Lisa's lawyers were going through the procedures and evidence that they have gathered to back up Lisa's petition for emancipation. "This won't last long, since this is not a trial, probably less than an hour or so. It could be even 10 or 20 minutes. Because you inherited 70% of your grandfather's fortune and there is a history of emancipation in your family, from your great-great-great grandmother, the judge will definitely make things quick."

"Also the fact that your mother was charged with attempted homicide towards her own daughter and you were physically abused by your father because of your mother, the judge will take in count on how painfully today's events will be for you. So just hang in there and speak the truth when they ask you about your living condition with your parents." The other lawyer explained and Lisa nodded her head.

Jennie was on the couch sitting down, watching Lisa sitting quietly while listening to her lawyers attentively. Not even in a million years would Jennie understand what Lisa was going through. That's why she didn't have the heart to not show up today. Lisa needs her, even if things are not going well with them, she needs her. They have only been together for a couple of months, they couldn't end it all because of a fight.

After 10 or more minutes, Lisa and her district attorney left the room with Jennie behind them. Lisa hugged Chaeyoung and Jisoo who were by the entrance of the court. They walked inside, with Jennie sitting down next to Sana and Chaeyoung and Jisoo sitting next to Joy.

Lisa sat next to the district attorney and the other lawyer, while on the other side, her mother was sitting down next to her father. After today, Lisa wouldn't have to owe them anything. If they opposed, things would only go bad towards their side.
