somebody to you

After the war, you along with your other classmates were invited back to Hogwarts for another year at Hogwarts, a way to help cope with the pain in the battle. You didn't participate on the war though, you were with your family and all of you left to go to America and hide there, for your father didn't want any of you to be killed or hurt because of the war. Your father sided with neither the Order nor the Death Eaters, he was neutral. Plus your mother was a half-blood, she might be put in danger so your father decided to leave.

When you returned with your family, the war was over. People were rebuilding Diagon Alley for it was destroyed during the war. Fred and George's shop were missing one owner, which some say were a sad thing since the two are a pair that should've been inseparable and yet their store stands strong in Diagon Alley. The laughter amidst of chaos, the happiness in the middle of darkness. Their store is like a symbolism for their character; its like Fred and George, and yet there is only George now. The twins always fascinates you, and when you heard from your friend that they have a store in Diagon Alley, you promised yourself that you will visit the store once you returned to London.

And you did, you visited the twin's store. You looked around, looking for the perfect gifts for your younger siblings when you saw a familiar blonde haired boy, Draco Malfoy. What was he doing here?  You thought, because he was the biggest Weasley-hater in Hogwarts before, why was he in the Weasley twin's store?

"I didn't know I would see you here, Malfoy." you said, greeting your classmate. You two never really talk much but you two had a history - you were his potions partner one semester during your fourth year so the both of you are in speaking terms.

"Oh hey... L/N, right?" he said. Wow, he remembers, you thought.

"Yeah, so what are you doing here?" you asked him.

"Checking this place out, you?"

"I just got back from America." You said, smiling shyly.

"Oh, yeah i heard you and your family fled to America. You're lucky you didn't have to experience the war."

"Why? Did you?"

He only shrugged, obviously didn't want to talk about that. He picked up something from the shelves and walked away, paying for the product. You only stood there, confused.

"Gotta go now, L/N. It was nice seeing you. See you at Hogwarts?" he said and you only nodded, smiling at him.

That wasn't the first time you spoke to Draco Malfoy after the war. He returned for his 8th year, but he wasn't as cocky, famous, and boastful as before. He was like one of the invisible students, with Theodore Nott and Blaise Zabini by his side. He was humble, and sure enough, the war changed him too.

The first part of the school year was normal, but there was this certain darkness that looms over all of the students. Each student was broken, and all of them are trying to hide that certain darkness, like it was an unspoken rule that nobody talks about the war. As if it didn't happen. So that they will have a normal school year, to help with the healing of everyone. You were enjoying the school year like before, enjoying the company of your friends that you haven't seen in awhile. Lessons that you haven't learned before, and new friends that you didn't know existed before. Of course you felt bad for everyone who participated in the war, so you tried to be friendly with everyone, that's how you gained so many new friends. That is also why you wished to be somebody to Draco Malfoy, your classmate in literally all of your classes. That is why you wanted to befriend him but even though he changed, he wasn't the arrogant Draco Malfoy that the school knows, you still can't seem to approach him because you are too shy to do so. Because of the vibe that be is giving out.
