Everyone was buzzing about Y/N Potter and Theodore Nott's wedding.

They called it the "wedding of the century" since it was probably the happiest occasion right after the war. The aftermath of the war was chaotic -- there were a lot of dead bodies to be buried, a lot of buildings to be renovated, and a lot of injuries that needed healing. Each street had something broken, and each building in Hogwarts was either destroyed or needed fixing. Everyone was busy helping as much as possible restoring what Voldemort destroyed. Although, there are things beyond repair, everyone who survived are just thankful to the things that they can still fix.

The depression after the war was so intense that a wedding may be what they needed to feel happiness again. A party where there is wine. Happy music that would lift up their spirits, and something to look forward to after the tragedy. This fact doubled the excitement of the people around both Y/N and Theodore.

Maybe Draco Malfoy was the only one not excited about this wedding.

He could hear people talking about this wedding when he would go to Diagon Alley to buy his books. He had nothing to do, since he didn't return to Hogwarts for this seventh and final year after the war. He can't apply to jobs at the Ministry since the Malfoy reputation has been tainted, given the rumors that he killed Albus Dumbledore, when in reality it was actually Severus Snape who did so. He spends his time reading and researching, and strolling the streets of Diagon Alley, where he heard the news that Y/N was marrying his best friend, Theodore Nott.

Its not like he didn't want a happy occasion after the war. He wasn't a spoilsport. Its just that he still secretly loves Y/N Potter, even if they broke up almost 2 years ago. Both of them dated when they were in their fourth year in Hogwarts since both of them are Slytherins. Draco had the biggest crush on her when he was in his first year, and he dared to ask her to the Yule Ball in their fourth year. And that night, in the most magical night,  he kissed her goodnight, and they dated until the start of their sixth year, when Draco started to fade away. He didn't want to, but he pushed her away when he needed her the most. He let her go when he needed someone to hold on to. He let go of the anchor that is holding him still. He let the waves push him farther and farther away from her.

And he regretted that decision every day until the moment that he received his invitation for their wedding.

She was probably the best thing that has ever happened to Draco Malfoy. She was the reason he looked forward to school days, even if OWLs were tiring during their fifth year. She was the reason why he liked winning Quidditch against Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, since she would kiss him every time Slytherin would win.  She was his sunshine, and he didn't want that spark to disappear because of his darkness. He is like a moth to a flame, drawn to her light. He didn't want to dim her light.

She was the reason why he was able to produce a Patronus charm. She was the happiest memory that he ever held on to.

He was having his breakfast, alone, when his new house elf, Miffy, handed him the mail for the day. His parents were in Romania to handle their new family business. It was to help clear the Malfoy name after the war, and also to start fresh. Within the mail Miffy gave him, was the white envelope containing the invitation to the wedding.

"Y/N Potter and Theodore Nott invites you to share with them the celebration of love and commitment..."

Draco almost choked in his bacon. He lost his appetite.

He can't believe the words written on the piece of paper that he is holding. Y/N and Theodore? His best bud during their Hogwarts years? Since when did they become officially together?
