before you go

It was in the depth of the night, and your eyes are still wide open. Your ears were still listening to the heavy raindrops that can be heard from the outside to your dorm room. It was dark inside your dorm room and all of your roommates are already asleep, but you were wide awake. You kept tossing and turning, not able to find the most comfortable spot for you to sleep in.

It was hard to sleep when your gut has something to say, but you can't seem to pinpoint what. There is a small voice inside your head, telling you that there's something wrong, but you can't understand what it is trying to say.

Then you had an idea, an idea that could help you fall asleep faster. You then decided to go downstairs in the common room, and drink a glass of water.

You got up, removed the blanket that was covering your body from the cold, and let your feet touch the ice cold floor. You slipped your feet in your slippers, and started walking. You walked slowly towards the exit, the door of your dorm room. You carefully placed your hand on the handle, and quietly and carefully, you opened the door, trying not to make too much noises so you won't wake the others up. You didn't want to ruin their beauty sleep. You closed the door, and walked slowly down the staircase that lead to the common room. There was a small light at the end of the staircase, and it guided you, since there are barely any more candles that were lit.

When you reached the end of the staircase, you suddenly got scared. There was a figure on the couch, slouching. His breaths were heavy, and it seems that he was sobbing terribly, but made a good job hiding it. You totally forgot what you got up for, and approach whoever was crying at this ungodly hour. As you approach the figure, the color of his hair became lighter and lighter, and he became more familiar to you. It was when you got near to him that you noticed his neatly brushed platinum blonde hair and his signature black suit.

"Hey." you said softly, not wanting to frightened the boy. He looked up and saw your face. You sat beside him, as he tried to wipe the tears that were in his cheeks. He was trying to cover up the tears so you won't question why he was crying, but it was too late. You saw how he sobbed in the darkness, and you saw his tear-stained cheeks.

"Hey, why are you still up?" he asked sweetly, his voice breaking at each word. He was trying so hard not cry again, and it hurts to hear his voice so close to breaking like a glass at the edge of the table.

"I should be asking you that, Draco." you said. "What happened? Is it your father again?"

"No, it's actually nothing, I'm alright." he said, which was clearly a lie. He wasn't alright. "So, why are you still awake? You have Quidditch practice tomorrow."

"I'm not attending the practice if you won't attend. What's going on Draco? You are always gone. You often skip breakfast or lunch, you are always asleep in classes which is not you. You are skipping Quidditch practices and our groupmates are very annoyed because you are our seeker. You barely spend time with me which is alright because I don't want to be that 'clingy' girlfriend, but I miss your company somehow. What is happening?"

He turned away from you, not being able to look you in the eye because of both guilt and shame. It was true that he was not spending time with you that often, and at first you respect his privacy. You often tell him that the both of you don't have to spend all your time together since you both have your own personal lives, friends, and own interests, but when he started being distant and you barely see him, you started to miss him. You started missing his company, his hugs and kisses, everything about him. Since then, you started noticing that there was something wrong.
