Darling

Saturdays that are spent in detention is very boring,  especially if that Saturday was a Hogsmeade visit. All of your classmates are on their way to Hogsmeade and here you are, cleaning the Hogwarts' trophy room with the Slytherin Prince, Draco Malfoy.

Why were you in detention?  It's because you forgot to submit your transfiguration essay because you can't find it in your bag,  only finding hidden within the pages of your charms book. When you tried to submit it, Professor McGonagall didn't accept it for she doesn't accept late papers.  Instead, she gave you detention, for and I quote "Not being responsible to turn in your papers on time."

You never really talked to Malfoy before, mostly because of the houses. See, you aren't in Slytherin, you are in (your Hogwarts house)  and the slytherin prince is known to not talk to other students in other houses except for his own house for he values blood purity, and almost everyone in Slytherin are purebloods like him. Plus, he was the kind of classmate who is in all of your classes, but you don't talk to because your paths just don't seem to cross. You were never paired with him, you never sat beside him, and you never got the chance to talk to him.

And yet here you are, in the trophy room, being eaten alive by the silence that surrounds you both. And the silence was slowly killing you, the awkwardness between the both of you when your e/c eyes meet his stormy gray eyes, the awkwardness when you accidentally hold his hand when you were trying to grab the duster or the towel that the both of you shared whilst cleaning the trophy room.

It was the most awkward detention ever.

That uneasy feeling lasted for about an hour and a half, almost halfway through the detention time when Draco Malfoy tried talking to you.

"You're in all my classes darling, aren't you?" he asked. You only looked at him with disbelief. He called you what?

"Uh, yeah I guess so." You said, avoiding eye contact and trying to end the conversation because you don't know what to reply to him, and you don't want to talk to him.

"You're one of those students who never received detention. Mind if I ask why you received detention?" he asked again. Perhaps he's tired of the silence that surrounds the both of you, the only noise that can be heard is the noise outside the room, the first and second years yelling while they run past the trophy room.

"Uh, no? Um, I forgot to turn in my Transfiguration essay last Monday, so McGonagall gave me detention for being irresponsible." You told him, still not looking into his stormy eyes.

"Same. Well, I totally forgot about that stupid essay as well. It's Quidditch season, she shouldn't be giving out essays due the next day when she knows that I have practices after her class."

"Yeah, but the world doesn't revolve around you, Malfoy." You said, and almost instantly, you regretted saying those rude words to a stranger you just formally met that day. Well, not really "met" but a stranger who you only talked to at that moment.

"Touché, darling." he said, he sound offended because of what you said, and you suddenly felt guilty. If only you can turn back time and take back what you said.

Silence ate the room again, and this time, Malfoy didn't try to talk to you again. But not because he was hurt or anything, he was planning to ask you what your name was. You intrigued him, and now he's very interested in you.
