“I won’t go back to the king. I’ll go warn the others. No cheating. You still have a shit ton of people on your side that you haven’t met yet. Next up, I believe is Mitch and Jerome. Blah blah blah. Don’t leave the path. I’ll come when you ring the bell, other than that you’re on your own.” With that, Kennan disappeared.
“Let’s go,” I said and waved my hand forward for the others to follow.
We were silent. We passed the peppermint forest a while back and now it was just clear skies and the rainbow path. I was in the lead, checking every now and again to make sure no one was left behind. If I got tired of walking, I would turn on my jetpack and hover for a while. No matter what, we had to keep going.
Soon, we started to see licorice sprouts randomly coming from the ground. It slowly started to get more and more heavy, until we could no longer see the sky. We walked on. None of us dared to speak. It was dark and we could barely see anything. Occasionally tripping on each other or the things we made a mutual consensus to name plants, even though we didn’t talk. At all.
It didn’t seem like the path would come into light any time soon. I was also pretty sure it was night. But this place was too scary, even for mobs. They didn’t dare come lurking around such a dark and ominous place. None of us wanted to be here either. I heard what I assumed was a wolf in the distance. All of us shivered. I started to feel more and more unrestful, so I filed in with the others and we all walked in a hord. A hord of scared and nervous people who had just seen a murder. None of us were tired. We kept walking.
It suddenly felt like something was watching us. Adam shivered. There was definitely something watching us. None of us said anything. But we all knew. It was all too quiet now. We could hear each of our breaths. Each of our footsteps. Everything. The liquorice bushes were rustling. Something jumped out.
