Freya's POV
I'm tending to Merry's wounds. "How is he Freya?" Pippin asks me concerned.
"He'll make a complete recovery, don't worry Pippin" I tell him. "A good nights rest and he'll be ready for the next move" I state. "You also need rest, I've had a bed set up beside his for you. Now sleep" I tell him.
"Ok" he says and sits on the bed. "What about you?" he asks me.
"I have to check on Eowyn and Faramir, then I shall get some rest" I tell him. He nods his head and I leave to check on Eowyn. "You should be resting" I state as I see her standing by a window.
"I am fine" she tells me.
"You killed the Witch King, it took a toll. You'll need to rest a few days, healer's orders" I tell her. She sighs and returns to her bed. Allowing me to examine her wound.
"So I won't be able to join the next battle?" she asks me.
"You've proven yourself to be a true Shield Maiden of Rohan and warrior. Besides Faramir will also not be going. You both nearly died" I state.
"Faramir?" she asks.
"The son of the late Steward of Gondor, he was hurt badly in battle and the lone survivor. His father went mad and tried to burn them both alive. In the end he ended up falling off the balcony while on fire. He did not survive" I explain. "Faramir has lost his brother and father since the split of the fellowship" I add sadly.
"You're brother is Frodo, right?" she asks me.
"Yes, Sam went with him. I have no doubt they'll succeed, but they will need help" I state. "Now rest" I tell her. She nods her head and I go check on Faramir. I notice he's awake. "Glad to see you awake, you had us worried" I tell him.
"My father, is he..." he asks.
"Dead, yes he is. I am sorry for your lose. I know it's not easy, I lost my parents at a young age. I had to help my uncle raise Frodo. It's how I got into healing, I was always fixing Frodo's injuries and that of our cousins. I worry for him everyday" I tell him as I tend to his wound.
"What does your heart tell you?" he asks me.
"That he's alive and out of danger, for now. But I will still worry until I see him for myself" I state. "Your wound is healing well and there appears to be no lasting damage to your lungs from the smoke you inhaled. But you still have to rest a few days" I tell him.
"But I want to help" he tells me.
"You can help, by staying here with Lady Eowyn of Rohan and keeping the people calm. You have done your part, let us finish this" I tell him. He sighs in defeat nodding his head. "Rest" I say and leave. I decide to go look for the others of the Fellowship as I have not seen them since the battle. I find them in the throne room with Eomer.
"Frodo has passed beyond my sight, the darkness is deepening" I hear Gandalf tel the other four men.
"If Sauron had the Ring, we would know it" Aragorn states.
"Aragorn is right" I state as I enter the room. "I notice none of you came to the healing house to be treated. So I am here to examine you all, no objections. Healer's orders" I tell them. "Continue your meeting" I state as I go over to Legolas who is holding his arm.
"It's only a matter of time" Gandalf states. "He has suffered a defeat, yes. But behind the walls of Mordor our enemy is regrouping" he explains.
"Should be fine after a good nights rest" I tell Legolas quietly and he gives me a grateful smile as I move onto Eomer. While Gimli sits on the steward's throne, puffing on a pipe.
"Let him stay there. Let him rot! Why should we care?" Gimli asks us.
"Because ten thousand Orcs now stand between Frodo and Mount Doom" Gandalf states making me stop what I'm doing. "I've sent him to his death" he says.
"Don't you dare say that Gandalf!" I snap. "That is my little brother and he is not going to die. Neither is Sam" I tell him hotly.
"She's right, there's still hope for Frodo. He needs time, and safe passage across the Plains of Gorgoroth" Aragorn states. "We can give him that" he states.
"How?" Gimli and I ask together. I look at him and look away when our eyes make contact. Going back to examining Eomer. I give him a clean bill of health and move onto Gandalf. Who seems to of held his wounds magically.
"Draw out Sauron's armies. Empty his lands. Then we gather our full strength and march on the Black Gate" Aragorn suggests. As I begin to examine him.
"We cannot achieve victory through strength of arms" Eomer states.
"Not for ourselves, but we can give Frodo his chance if we keep Sauron's Eye fixed upon us" Aragorn states.
"Keep him blind to all else that moves" I say with a small smile. I'll do anything to ensure Frodo makes it out of this quest alive. Even give my own life for his.
"A diversion" Legolas says.
"Certainty of death. Small chance of success. What are we waiting for?" Gimli asks.
"Sauron will suspect a trap. He will not take the bait" Gandalf states.
"Oh, I think he will" Aragorn tells him.
"You all seem to be fine, but I want you all to get a good nights rest before the attack tomorrow" I tell the men. "I shall inform Merry and Pippin, see you all in the morning" I state. Before leaving the room and head off to the healing house.
"Lady Freya!" Gimli calls as he follows me. I stop and look at him. "You did not examine me" he states.
"You do not to be in pain or discomfort. Do you have any injuries?" I ask him.
"Nothing of importance, no" he tells me.
"Then you should rest" I tell him.
"We didn't get a chance to talk in Edoras, I wish to speak to you now" he tells me.
"Very well, follow me" I tell him.
