Freya's POV
I've been given a new outfit, so I bathed before putting it on. I then grab my restocked supplies and leave for the river. Where we're all meeting and setting off for the next part of our journey. Once we all arrived we lined up me standing between Aragorn and Gimli. Cloaks are fastened around our necks with a green, silver-veined leaf-brooches. "Never before have we clad strangers in the garb of our own people. May these cloaks help shield you from unfriendly eyes" Lord Celeborn tells us smiling.
He stepped back and Lady Galadriel steps forward. "I have a gift for each of you, that will help you on your journey" she states. "My gift for you, Legolas, is a bow of the Galadhrim, worthy of the skill of our woodland kin" she says handing him a bow. He tests the string and looks pleased. She then moved onto Merry and Pippin. "These are the daggers of the Noldorin. They have already seen service in war" she states. I notice Pippin looks scared.
"Don't fear Pippin, you'll find your courage like my uncle did when he faced Smaug" I tell him. Pippin gives me a thankful smile. Lady Galadriel then approaches Sam next.
"For you, Samwise Gamgee: Elven rope, made of hithlain" Galadriel says.
"Thank you, my lady" Sam says accepting the rope. He then looks sidelong at Pippin and Merry's daggers. "Have you run out of those nice, shiny daggers?" he asks her. But Lady Galadriel just smiles and turns to Gimli.
"And what gift would a Dwarf ask of the Elves?" she asks him.
"Nothing, except to look upon the Lady of the Galadhrim one last time. For she is more fair than all the jewels beneath the earth" he states. I close my eyes taking a deep breath be avoiding everyone's eyes. He goes to walk away while Lady Galadriel giggles. But he turns back saying their was one thing and whispers into her ear.
"Freya, you've been through much and there is still more to come. You have a tough decision to make in the near future. I have one gift that will help you no mater what path you choose" she states then places a necklace around my neck. It has a blue crystal on the end. "This shall protect you,but it also has another power. Which you must discover yourself" she explains. 'Fear not young one, for he feels for you also' she says in my mind and I give her a confused look. But decide to think about it later.
"Thank you, I shall treasure it always" I tell her smiling. She then turns to Aragorn.
"I have nothing greater to give, than the gift you already bear" she says gesturing to his necklace. I remember Arwen wearing it when she taught me elvish. Lady Galadriel and Aragorn converse in elvish before Galadriel goes back to the western tongue. "That choice is yet before her. You have your own choice to make, Aragorn... to rise above the height of all your fathers since the days of Elendil, or to fall into darkness... with all that is left of your kin" she states. Before turning to Frodo.
Shehands him a crystalline vessel shaped like a teardrop, filling with a clear water and a shining light."Farewell, Frodo Baggins. I give you the light of Eärendil, our most beloved star" she says. She kisses his forehead. "May it be a light for you, in dark places, when all other lights go out" she tells him. We then all get into the three boats, me sharing one with Legolas and Gimli.
Wesail out onto the river and leave Lothlórien behind. White mountains rise starkly beneath blue skies and green trees. Gimli begins to speak to Legolas and I. "I have taken my worst wound at this parting, having looked my last upon that which is fairest. Haugh, henceforth I will call nothing fair unless it be her gift to me" he states. I look out at the forest taking another deep breath. Lady Galadriel is wrong, he does not care for me as I care for him. Why would he?
"What was it?" Legolas asks Gimli.
"I asked her for one hair from her golden head. She gave me three" Gimli replies. Legolas smiles then turns to me.
"Cin ok?" he asks me. (Translation: you ok?). I nod my head giving him a fake smile before looking over to Frodo. He's sharing a boat with Sam and Aragorn. While Pippin and Merry are in a boat with Boromir.
