Freya's POV
I was sleeping peacefully until Merry whisper shouts Pippin's name. What do they have against a good nights sleep? I ask myself as I sit up. Pippin takes the Palantír from Gandalf, replacing the space in Gandalf's hands with a chamber pot. "Are you mad Pippin?" I demand.
"I just want to look at it! Just one more time" he states.
"Put it back" Merry and I tell him as he unwraps the stone.
"No Pippin!" I say firmly as he goes to touch it. But he ignores my warning and touches it anyway. Pippin becomes affixed to the now glowing stone.
"Pippin! Help!" Merry shouts.
"Gandalf help him!" I scream. Aragorn and Legolas enter the room as the others wake up. Pippin is writhing on the floor in pain still connect to the Palantir. On impulse I grab it from him and scream in pain. I fall to the ground dropping the Palantir. I see Gandalf throws a cloth over it.
"Pippin, Freya!" Merry shouts kneeling beside us.
"Miss Freya" Gimli says.
"Fool of a Took" Gandalf grumbles as he kneels beside us. "Look at me" he tells us gently.
"Forgive me Freya, Gandalf" Pippin says weakly.
"I told you no and you touch it anyone" I grumble curling up in a ball.
"Look at me. What did you see?" Gandalf asks us.
"A tree... there was a white tree in a courtyard of stone... it was dead" Pippin states.
"The city was burning" I add remembering the image that popped into my head before I dropped the orb.
"Minas Tirith? Is that what you saw?" Gandalf asks us and I nod my head weakly. I may of never been there, but I know it's the home of the white tree of Gondor.
"I saw... I saw Him! I could hear His voice in my head" Pippin whimpers and I grab his hand.
"And what did you tell Him? Did you hear him to Freya? Speak" Gandalf demands.
"I heard nothing but the screams of burning people" I tell him weakly.
"He asked me my name. I didn't answer, he hurt me" Pippin whimpers.
"What did you tell Him about Frodo and the Ring?" Gandalf asks him.
"Nothing" Pippin states. Gandalf calls a meeting with King Theoden. We all go to Golden Hall where Pippin and I sit down. Merry standing beside us.
"There was no lie in Freya's or Pippin's eyes. A fool... but an honest fool he remains. They told Sauron nothing of Frodo and the Ring" Gandalf tells Theoden. "We've been strangely fortunate. Pippin and Freya saw in the Palantír a glimpse of the enemy's plan. Sauron moves to strike the city of Minas Tirith" he states.
"His defeat at Helm's Deep showed our enemy one thing: he knows the heir of Elendil has come forth. Men are not as weak as he supposed; there is courage still, strength enough perhaps to challenge him. Sauron fears this. He will not risk the peoples of Middle-Earth uniting under one banner. He will raze Minas Tirith to the ground before he sees a King return to the throne of men. If the Beacons of Gondor are lit, Rohan must be ready for war" he tells Theoden.
"Tell me... why should we ride to the aid of those who did not come to ours? What do we owe Gondor?" Theoden asks him.
"I will go" Aragorn states.
"No" Gandalf tells him.
"They must be warned" I tell him.
"They will be" he assures me. "You must come to Minas Tirith by another road. Follow the river and look to the black ships" he tells Aragorn. "Understand this: things are now in motion that cannot be undone. I ride for Minas Tirith. And I won't ride alone" he states looking at us hobbits.
(Outside)
I'd been given new clothes to wear and I changed quickly. Before running to catch up with Merry and Pippin. "Of all the inquisitive hobbits, Peregrin Took, you are the worst! Hurry!" Gandalf shouts.
"Where are we going?" Pippin asks.
"Why did you look? Why do you always have to look?" Merry demands.
"I don't know. I can't help it" Pippin answers.
"You never can" I tell him.
"I'm sorry, all right! I won't do it again" Pippin tells me.
"Don't you understand?" I ask as I stop to face him.
"The enemy thinks you have the Ring! He's going to be looking for you, Pip. They have to get you and Freya out of here" Merry explains.
"And y-you're coming with us?" Pippin asks him. Merry doesn't answer and continues walking on. I follow him as Pippin calls our names. Once inside the stables Gandalf lifts Pippin and I onto his horse. Three riders on one horse, it'll be a little crowd. Luckily Shadowfax if a big strong horse.
"How far is Minas Tirith?" I ask Gandalf.
"Three day's ride, as the Nazgûl flies. And we better hope we don't have one of those on our tail" he answers. He gets on behind us as Merry hands Pippin a pouch.
"Here. Something for the road" he tells him.
"Last of the Longbottom Leaf?" Pippin says.
"I know you've run out. You smoke too much, Pip" Merry states.
"You both do" I tell them.
"But we'll see each other soon, won't we?" Pippin asks Merry.
"I don't know. I don't know what's going to happen" Merry says looking up at Gandalf.
"Run, Shadowfax. Show us the meaning of haste" Gandalf tells the horse. He gallops out of the stables as Pippin shouts Merry's name. We then gallop out of the city and head for Gondor.
(Watch tower) Gimli's POV
Aragorn and I followed the young Hobbit up here. We all look out to see Gandalf riding away with Freya and the other hobbit. I sigh dejectedly, I guess I'll have to wait longer to tell her my feelings. "He's always followed me. Everywhere I went, since before we were were tweens.I would get him into the worst sort of trouble. But Freya was always there to get us out and patch us up.And now their gone" Merry explains.
Aragorn places a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Like Frodo and Sam" Merry adds.
"One thing I've learned about hobbits: they are most hardy folk" Aragorn tells him.
"Foolhardy maybe. He's a Took" Merry tells us and we chuckle. I look out at the white speck one last time. "Don't worry, you'll see her soon and you two can finally get together" Merry tells me before leaving with Aragorn.
