Freya's POV

We are still riding Treebeard as he enters a large clearing. "The Ents have not troubled about the wars of men and wizards for a very long time. But now something is about to happen that has not happened for an age: Entmoot" he explains.

"What's that?" I ask him curious.

"It is a gathering" he states.

"Of what?" Merry asks him. Just then Ents come from the forest and surround them.

"Does that answer your question Merry?" I ask him.

"Beech, Oak, Chestnut, Ash. Good, good, good many have come" Treebeard says looking at the other ents. "Now we must decide if the Ents will go to war" he states and Merry smiles. Treebeard places us on the ground.

(That night)

Pippin and I had fallen asleep as the meeting dragged on. But we both wake up to see Merry had not slept. "It's been going for hours" I say with a small yawn.

"They must have decided something by now" Pippin says hopefully.

"Decided? No, we've only just finished saying good morning" Treebeard explains.

"But it's nighttime already! You can't take forever" Merry tells him.

"Don't be hasty" Treebeard tells him and returns to the meeting.

"We're running out of time" Merry states.

"I'm sure they will make the right decision. Get some rest Merry" I tell him. He grumbles but lays down and Pippin goes back to sleep. I watch over them as the Ents continue to talk in their language. At this rate, they won't decide anything until morning.

"You should rest young Miss Freya" Treebeard tells me. "With some many of us here, no tree will harm you or the other two. So sleep, it will take time" he tells me. I nod my head and lay down. I soon fall back asleep dreaming about a happy future.

Later on the same night Merry wakes me again and I grumble in annoyance. I look up to see Treebeard approach us and sit up. "We have just agreed" he tells us.

"Yes?" Merry asks him as he dozes off.

"I have told your names to the Entmoot and we have agreed: you are not orcs" Treebeard declares.

"Well that's good news" Pippin says smiling.

"But what about Saruman?" I ask Treebeard.

"Have you come to a decision about him?" Merry asks.

"Now don't be hasty, Master Meriadoc" Treebeard tells him. I've lost count of how many times he's said that today.

"Hasty?! Our friends are out there. They need our help! They cannot fight this war on their own" Merry tells him.

"War, yes. It affects us all. But you must understand, young hobbit. It takes a long time to say anything in old Entish, and we never say anything unless it is worth taking a long time to say" Treebeard explains. He returns to the meeting and this time we stay awake.

(Later on that same night)

Treebeard approaches us again, hopefully with an answer. "The Ents cannot hold back this war. We must weather such things as we have always done" he tells us.

"How can that be your decision?" Merry demands.

"This is not our war" Treebeard states.

"But your part of this world! Aren't you?" I demand. The Ents glance at each other, looking self-conscious. Merry steps forward and addresses them directly.

"You must help. Please. You must do something" he pleads.

"You are young and brave, master Merry. But your part in this tale is over. Go back to your home" Treebeard tells us. No, I won't return until I know Frodo is safe with me.

"Maybe Treebeard's right. We don't belong here Freya, Merry. It's too big for us. What can we do in the end? We've got the Shire. Maybe we should go home" Pippin tells us.

"The fires of Isengard will spread. And the woods of Tuckburough and Buckland will burn. And all that was once green and good in this world will be gone" I tell him.

"There won't be a Shire, Pippin" Merry clarifies. Treebeard has us get back onto his shoulders then walks away from the ents. He heads west.

"I will leave you at the western borders of the forest. You can make your way north to your homeland from there" he tells us.

"Wait, stop! Turn around! Take us south" I tell him.

"South? But that will lead you past — Isengard" he says confused.

"Yes. Exactly. If we go south we can slip past Saruman unnoticed. The closer we are to danger, the farther we are from harm. It's the last thing he'll expect" Pippin tells him.

"Hmm. That doesn't make sense to me. But then, you are very small. Perhaps your right. South it is then" Treebeard states as he turns around. "Hold on, little Shirelings. I always like going south. Somehow it feels like going down hill" he tells us.

"Are you both mad? We'll be caught" Merry tells us.

"No we won't, not this time" I assure him confidently. As we head safe Treebeard tells us about the trees and creatures that lived there.

(Dawn, the next day)

"And a little family of field mice that climb up sometimes and it tickle me awfully. They're always trying to get somewhere" he tells us. Treebeard stops as he sees cut and burned trees. "Many of these trees were my friends" he states in anguish.

"I'm sorry Treebeard" I tell him.

"They had voices of their own" he states. Treebeard looks past the ruined forest to the furnaces of Isengard. "Saruman! A wizard should know better!" he shouts as his leaves rustle in anger. He lets out a powerful cry that echoes through the forests. "There is no curse in elvish, entish or the tongues of men for this treachery" he tells us.

"Look, they're moving" Pippin says pointing to a group of trees.

"Where are they going?" Merry asks Treebeard.

"They have business with the orcs. My business is with Isengard tonight. With a rock and stone" he answers as the other ents form the meeting appear. Along with many more. "Rárum-rum! Come my friends. The Ents are going to war. It is likely that we go to our doom. The last march of the Ents" Treebeard states as they march towards Isengard.

(Isengard)

We reached Isengard and the battle started. Merry, Pippin and I stay safe of Treebeard's should throwing rocks. As he and the other ents fight. Treebeard throws a boulder at some orcs freeing another ent from their clutches. It stands and rejoins the battle. I throw a rock hitting an orc sending down the ladder it'd climb.

"A fine hit" Treebeard praises me. The boys then hit another orc and he praises them too. "Break the dam! Release the river!" he shouts to the ents. An Ent pulls open the beams supporting the dam releasing the water behind it.

"Merry, Pippin hold on!" I shout to them as I hold on tight also.

"Hold on, little hobbits" Treebeard tells us. The Ents stand still and resist the waters, as they flow down in to the fires of Isengard, flooding everything. The Ent on fire is saved by the water. Soon all of Isengard is flooded.
