Chapter 25

Ranveer smiled when he saw Deepika walk up to him and join him outside. Her eyes were still a little red and he felt terrible for how things turned out and for having to leave the event in such a way. She showed him a small smile and he grabbed her hand, intertwining his fingers with hers and then kissing the back of her hand.

"The car will be here soon." He said and she nodded, smiling again, appreciating his sweet little gestures.

The ride back to the hotel was short and quiet. She spent most of it looking at her phone, going through her messages and e-mails without really paying much attention to anything. She felt... sad. She wasn't upset with Ranveer and it wasn't that she didn't want to have to leave the event, she just would have preferred that what happened didn't happen. She sighed and looked out the window until the car stopped and Ranveer held her hand to help her out.

Once in their room, she watched him take off his jacket and put it away in the closet. He was quiet. She watched him until his eyes met with hers. He seemed serious, not really happy either. She didn't know what was going on in his head but there was something she wanted him to know.

"I'm not mad at you, I trust you." She said and his handsome face finally lit up with a smile. It would have hurt a lot if she had believed him capable of cheating on her. Thankfully she didn't. She said she trusted him and it made him feel relieved. So much that he walked up to her and hugged her, whispering "I'm sorry" to her ear.

"Just..." She said looking at him as he listened attentively. "Don't do anything you wouldn't want me to do."

Her words made him feel sick in the stomach. He would never want to see any guy get as close to her as Valentina got to him. Just the thought of it made him upset and it was only a thought in his case; Deepika actually saw it before her eyes. He wouldn't be happy at all if the situation had been reversed. He could completely understand her pain. "I won't, baby. I promise." He whispered again, peppering her face with little kisses, making her smile. She hugged him and Valentina was soon out of their minds. They both changed into more comfortable clothes and decided to rest for a couple hours before they had to start getting ready again, this time for the award ceremony.

"Wow, you're here early!" Arjun teased them on the red carpet, relieved because his dear friends looked their usual happy selves. "Deepika, you look beautiful." He complimented her and she thanked him with a shy smile.

"Hey!" Ranveer interrupted. "What about me?" He asked, showing him his outfit, making them both laugh.

"Ehmmm..." Arjun looked at him up and down, scratching his chin. "You look good, Baba. Not as beautiful as the lady here, though."

Ranveer turned to look at his wife, she always looked beautiful but that night she had beaten her own records; she looked gorgeous, stunning, radiant. People kept saying she had that pregnancy glow and he could swear it was true and that she was literally glowing. Her skin, her eyes, her smile, her hair... everything. He put an arm around her waist, his chest puffing with pride. "Nobody is as beautiful as she is." He said looking at her with a big smile on his face.

"Stop it, guys." She said blushing, trying not to look at Ranveer for too long because he had that dumb and in love look on his face. The one that made her feel butterflies in her stomach even after almost five years of marriage. She didn't want to end up lost in his eyes, with the same dumb grin on her face, spacing out and forgetting about the million cameras around them. The incident with Valentina had been long forgotten and she felt grateful for him. Thankful that his love for her was just as deep and immense as her love for him.
