Never in his life did he imagine he would find himself doing this so soon. Why wait when you've never been happier? When you're really enjoying yourself and the person you're with? Why postpone the inevitable? Work is important, his biggest dream for most of his life but he's a man too, a man with a heart and passion and eyes and a brain and needs; not only physical needs, emotional needs too. He's 30-some years old, still a bachelor in many ways but old enough to settle down. Yes.
Upon hearing the news, his best friend was supportive. He had been sharing him with this woman for a few years anyway and nothing had changed. She's a good friend too and Ranveer is still part of his life as much as he's always been. When he told his parents, his mom cried and his dad wished him the best. They couldn't think of anyone better than Deepika to marry their baby and become part of their family. Everyone supported him, even their fans, who didn't know anything yet but had been tweeting relentlessly about how perfect they are together since they became the hottest jodi in B-town. He even saved a few of those pictures they pretty up and won't stop sharing online, one of them is his phone's wallpaper right now.
Nobody was more excited upon hearing the news though than the object of his affection; his statuesque, ethereal, goddess-like, always-polite and gracious Bollywood princess. She is the sweetest, most caring, romantic, beautiful and exciting woman he's ever met. The moment he got to see this side of her he realized she had to be his, for he could never share her with another man.

And when he proposed, Deepika's eyes watered and she jumped on him, planting a million little kisses on her former-boyfriend-now-fiancé's lips, on his cheeks, forehead, nose and chin too. She had never seen an engagement ring as beautiful as the one he put on her finger. She beamed and he smiled like a little kid who had just been given a whole chocolate bar. There was a lot of kissing that night and lots of hope for a brand new future together. Deepika couldn't stop staring at her hand wearing the diamond ring and he thought he had never seen her look more beautiful than how she did wearing nothing but said ring.
He knew that like many girls in the world, and like many of the heroines in romantic movies, his "Deepu" dreamed of a family and a domestic life; it wasn't all glamour for his heroine. She wanted to have not one or two but, wait, LOTS of children. She wanted to cook dinner for her family as often as possible and send her kiddos off to school in the morning, help them with their homework, tuck them into bed every night... He wanted all that too, someday. His biological clock wasn't ticking as fast as hers though. He loved kids as well but he didn't feel mature enough or prepared to become a dad. It scared him but it was a challenge he was willing to accept. He knew that it will be a breeze with her as the mother of all these little dimpled-Ranveers and Deepikas.
Their wedding was wonderful. Friends, family and many famous celebrities attended and all they could comment was how beautiful the bride looked and how happy was the couple. Everybody could see and feel the love irradiating from them. The newlyweds barely took their eyes off each other to even notice the media was all over them; they wouldn't let anything ruin their special day.
After the celebrations came their honeymoon, a whole week in a paradise island in the middle of nowhere. They had nothing but each other and time was very well spent exploring one another. They learned and memorized even the last corner of each others bodies. Nothing was new but having so much time to dedicate to the art of loving each other made the experience both exhilarating and exhausting. They spent many hours of the day sleeping in each others arms and only came out for a little breath of fresh air and sometimes to swim in the clear waters of the ocean. As beautiful as the island was, what they shared in the bedroom was way more beautiful and entertaining.
Back in Mumbai, the lovebirds held hands whenever seen in public. No PDA, maybe a hug here and there, showing sweet care and affection for each other. Though smiles where forever plastered on their faces. There was no doubt they made each other really happy.
They continued working as hard as always, it was nice to have something to look forward to at the end of a long work day. No more going to bed alone, no more cold nights but a warm bed and a gentle lover.
The media never backed off, they knew it wouldn't but it was hard at times when they made up things like Deepika didn't want him to work with certain actresses and how he didn't want her paired with exes. There was also a constant watch, people spying on her body hoping to find confirmation of their love in her ever-flat belly. It wasn't easy to be constantly scrutinized but at the end of the day it was all worth it. Their trust on each other was their strength and their love the reason for waking up every morning and facing the world, together as one.
Life as Ranveer's wife was anything but boring. Months flew by and they were as in love with each other as always. Soon it was already their first anniversary and they flew to London. They had a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant and that night before professing his undying love for her, he whispered to her ear: "I'm ready."
