Chapter 35

Ranveer wasn't thrilled with the idea of having to be on bed rest. It had been pretty frustrating the last time he was confined to his bed, even though he did have a lot of time to watch films and do things his busy schedule usually didn't allow for.

He sighed. His mom was away in the kitchen and Deepika left the room because his sister arrived with Ria. He wasn't completely immobile, he could move around with help and the doctor had given him crutches. Still, his overprotective wife and mother didn't allow him to get out of bed.

Ria was happy to see her aunt when she picked her up from school. She loved going over to Sami's house, eat lunch with them and then play with Sami and her little sister, Sanaya. Ria had a good day with them but still wondered about her mommy. She asked where she was and why she didn't pick her up as usual. Her aunt told her she had gotten a little busy but that they would see her soon.

When they arrived home, Deepika picked Ria up, giving her a tight hug and a kiss.

"I missed you, mommy!" The little girl exclaimed enthusiastically.

"I missed you too, sweetie." Deepika said, quickly putting her down on the floor as her mother-in-law walked in the living room. She had told her before not to carry Ria in her arms anymore but she just couldn't help babying her baby girl. Ria ran to her dadi, happy to see her home and hugged her legs.

Ranveer's sister inquired about her brother and his mom and her went to see him.

"Come here, baby." Deepika told her daughter and she sat down on the couch to talk to her. Ria was about to follow her aunt and Dadi but sat next to her mom instead. "How was school? What did you learn today?" She asked her daughter, wrapping an arm around her.

"Very bad..." Ria said with a sigh, alarming her mother. She told her about her day and about a girl who took her activity book away and about another one who wouldn't let anyone else use the only pink crayon in the box. There was a boy too, who ate a crayon. "I tell him crayon is not food, mommy! And he is crazy because he start throwing all the crayons on the floor. My friend cry and the teacher is mad because she say my exercise is not complete."

"Aww. I'm sorry, sweetheart." Deepika said kissing the top of her baby's head. "That little boy is going to get sick if he keeps eating crayons." She didn't want Ria to pick up that strange habit. She was glad she knew they were not "food."

Ria nodded and reached for her backpack to show her the unfinished assignment she now had to work on at home. She was visibly upset about it, she liked doing everything well at school. She colored pretty liberally at home but at school she somehow started showing a little of Deepika's OCD side. Her mom smiled, forever amused by their adorable little girl.

"Don't worry. I can help you with that later." Deepika said and Ria put her stuff back in the backpack. "Listen, I didn't pick you up from school because I had to pick Papa up from the doctor." She told her girl once she was sitting by her side again. "He had a little accident. He is here but he can't move his right hand and leg. He has to stay in bed until they heal."

Ria's eyes grew bigger. She seemed concerned. "He's sleeping?" She asked, because mommy said he was in bed.

"No, he's not sleeping. Let's go see him." Deepika said standing up and holding her daughter's hand. "He'll be happy to see you."

"Princess!" Ranveer exclaimed and Ria ran over to the bed, stopping briefly at the sight of the cast and the bandages.
