Chapter 47
"You sad, mommy?" The little girl asked her mother with concern. She scooted closer and brought a hand to her mom's cheek. "Why you sad? Papa is back." She added with big hopeful eyes.
Ranveer arrived a couple of hours earlier. When Ria woke up she saw him in bed with them and she was so excited that she jumped on him, kissed his cheeks and snuggled with him until they all fell back asleep as it was still too early to get up.
"I'm not sad, sweetheart." Deepika said wrapping an arm around her daughter. She kissed her forehead then and the small girl snuggled close to her mommy.
Despite being so young, Ria was very curious and observant. She said whatever came to her mind too without thinking it twice. Both Deepika and Ranveer loved that about her but they had to be extremely careful because she would pick up the slightest hints of sadness and worries. She could tell when they had argued too and she was so sensitive that seeing such things made her worry. And if she saw them cry, she would immediately start crying too without even knowing what was going on. She even cried in those rare occasions when Dhruv felt sick and wouldn't stop crying.
"I'm not sad, I'm thinking." Deepika added to ease her daughter's worries. "I'm thinking of how lucky I am to have you."
The small girl giggled, "I'm lucky to have you too, my pretty mommy."
Deepika smiled big, holding her tighter in her arms. "We're lucky to have Dhruv and Papa too..."
Ri nodded. She loved hearing such loving words from her mommy. "Papa work too much..." She said. She wanted him home all the time. He had just gotten home and he was sleeping because she assumed he was tired of so much working.
"He does but don't forget he loves us. When he's away, he's always thinking of us." Deepika said and Ri smiled. "He also loves his job so much, it makes him very happy too and we want him to be always happy, no?"
"Yes. Papa is so-good papa." The small girl said.
"He is..." Deepika whispered, planting another kiss on her cute baby girl.

Earlier that morning, Ranveer tried not to make too much noise when he finally got home. It was still early and a Sunday, so he assumed Deepika and the kids would still be sleeping. He gently knocked on his own bedroom door to announce his presence in case they were awake and indeed, Deepika and Dhruv were. Both got a little startled by his knock but soon their faces lit up thanks to his presence.
"You're back!" Deepika whispered with a big smile. She was sitting on their bed, still half under the covers and had baby Dhruv in her arms. She looked like she had just woken up, with sleepy eyes and a messy ponytail. He smiled back and leaned in for a kiss. Dhruv was there but he was too little to understand much so neither one of his parents minded sharing a few kisses in front of him.
"How was your trip?" Deepika asked as her husband took the baby from her arms.
"Meh..." Ranver said looking at Dhruv and diverting the topic to him. "Why are you up this early, Champ? Were you hungry?" He asked the baby. "I bet you were, weren't you? Look at that round tummy." He said lifting the baby in the air and kissing his tummy. Dhruv squealed, happy to see his papa and to be getting his attention. Ranveer kissed his cheek then and held him close to him. "Where's your didi?" He asked looking at his side of the bed where Ri's sleepy head could barely be seen under the covers. He walked over there and left a kiss on his princess' forehead. He had really missed his babies.
