Please receive my most sincere apologies for taking so long to update this *hides* And thank you very much for all the messages I received on twitter and wattpad asking for updates. You guys rock. Without that motivation my muse wouldn't have come back to life, haha, even though I started writing this two long weeks ago - eek!
Hope you enjoy this chapter, it's a little different than all the others, you'll see why. Still cheesy though!
Chapter 22
"I want to go too..." Deepika said hugging Ranveer from behind with her chin resting on his shoulder.
He smiled and stopped what he was doing when she hugged him. "But is it safe, babe?" He asked concerned. It wouldn't be such a long flight but an international flight nonetheless.
"Yes!" She exclaimed. "The doctor said I still can. It's safe before the 28th week."
He stirred his coffee, quiet, thinking about it.
"Come on, love... I'm 26 weeks along, there won't be another chance." She insisted.
"Wow you already asked the doc." He chuckled and she smiled. "But what's the difference between week 26 and 28?"
"Two weeks." She answered with a shrug, what was there to debate about it? The doctor said she can fly.
He rolled his eyes. He wasn't asking just because, he genuinely wanted to know. "I mean, what changes in two weeks? What makes it safe at 26 and not after 28?"
"What? If you don't want me to go just say it." Her voice sounded irritated and he felt her step back, withdrawing from him. "If you don't believe me ask the doctor."
He sighed, turning around to face her. "When did I say that? Of course I want you to go but I worry about you and the baby." He said with a soft voice, trying not to make her angry. He knew the pregnancy hormones clouded her mind and played with her patience and her emotions. She would react to things she didn't use to before, on top of other things like being overly sensitive and feeling very, very amorous towards him; that he did like a lot.
She didn't realize the things she said or did under the influence of said hormones until it was too late. In the heat of the moment, it seemed completely necessary to react the way she did. Like in the present moment, she couldn't understand why he had to question what the doctor told her. She already knew he worries about her well-being and that of their family and gets too overprotective sometimes but nothing should happen if the doctor said there shouldn't be any problems.
He reached for her hands and wrapped her arms around him again even though she had an upset look on her face. "Don't look at me like that..." He pleaded while his coffee got cold behind him. She looked away and he continued, "I care about you. I love you. I would never forgive myself if something bad happened to you or the baby."
His words made her feel guilty. He was just being the caring husband and father he's always been and she was actually thankful for that. She shouldn't be upset for him not wanting her and their baby to be exposed to any unnecessary dangers. Plus, she had absolutely no reason to believe he didn't want her to go with him besides what he said. It didn't take her long to realize she was over-reacting.
She still wasn't looking at him but he could tell she wasn't really mad so he brought a hand to her face to tuck a free strand of hair behind her ear. He then wrapped his arms around her, bringing her as close as possible without crushing their little baby between them.
"I just... I want to be there." She said with a small voice, not being able to fathom the idea of missing any important moment in his life or career. She didn't want to miss a single thing. "I'm so proud of you..." She finally looked at him, her ever-teary eyes threatening to spill.
