Chapter 50
12:00 am.
"Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday, dear Ria... Happy birthday to you..."
It had been four years already. Four years since they held their little baby in their arms for the first time, their daughter, their darling princess Ri.
They gently sat next to her on her little bed, smiling, eagerly waiting for her reaction to their surprise. Ranveer held a cake adorned with four lit candles and Deepika leaned close to sleeping Ria, caressing her cheek as she softly whispered "Happy birthday, baby. Wakey, wakey... Look who's here." She picked her up, sitting her on her lap as the little girl's sleepy eyes slowly opened. She was trying to settle into her mommy's arms when she saw Papa in front of her with a cake in his hands.
"Happy birthday, Princess!" her smiling Papa said.
"Happy birthday!!!" said everyone.
She looked up and her cute face lit up. Nani, Nana, Dadi, and Dada (grandparents) were there too, all wishing her a happy birthday - even Dhruv was awake and all smiles in Dadi's arms.
"Wow! Is my birthday!" a sleepy Ri exclaimed.
"Yes, it is, baby. Finally!"
"Happy birthday, Ria dear. How old are you now?"
"I'm four!" She exclaimed proudly holding up her right hand showing them four fingers.
"Wow! Such a big girl already!" The grandparents played along...
"Smile for a picture," Nana said with his phone ready and Ri, Mommy and Papa showed their brightest smiles for the camera.
"Wait, Dhruv is missing," Dadi said handing the baby to Deepika. Ranveer held the cake, Deepika held baby Dhruv and Ri moved to sit on the bed between both of them.
"Perfect!"
"Smile!"
"Blow the candles!"
"Make a wish!"
Ria clapped excitedly, inhaling as much air as her small 4-year-old lungs could hold and enthusiastically blew the candles, making sure she got all of them. The adults cheered and clapped, all while Dhruv's eyes were fixed on the cake.
"What did you wish for, baby?" her curious Papa asked.
"I wish for lots of cake!" Ri proudly answered, making everyone laugh. Deepika kissed the top of her head, wrapping an arm around her innocent little daughter.
"Well, here's your cake, sweetheart. It's Pancake cake, the one you wanted." Deepika said with a smile.
Their pancake baby... She had requested a pancake-flavored cake when Deepika asked her what flavor cake she wanted for her birthday. "Pancake?" Deepika asked confused. Is that even possible? Only their baby girl would come up with something like that.
