Hello darlings! If you follow me on Twitter, you may be aware that I have decided to write shorter chapters from now on in order to be able to update more often, as some of you have been requesting. I have been taking as long as two months to update because I'm writing this story and In the Shadows concurrently and I recognize that is too long and I apologize for that. I am amazed people still read these stories after taking so much time to post new chapters. Thank you, I truly appreciate it!

Chapter 24

Ranveer bolted towards the restrooms and made a sharp stop right at the entrance. He paced for a few seconds wondering what to do. The image of Deepika hiding in there and feeling hurt was unbearable; to think it was all his fault made it even worse. His mind went back to the day they married, the day he promised her a lifetime full of happiness. He never meant to hurt her, never even thought of being dishonest or breaking her trust. She meant everything to him, he would never risk what they had for something meaningless with a stranger. It wasn't worth it; besides, no other woman could ever fulfill him the way she did. Nobody could ever come close to her, to what she made him feel with her touch and kisses and even with just a single smile - a single smile of hers lit up his whole world. He was madly in love with her her, with heart, her mind and her soul. Her physical beauty was the first thing he noticed when they met but he wouldn't have fallen for her if it hadn't been for the beauty she carries within. She was the love of his life and he didn't want anyone else, ever. He only wanted her and she knew it. He hoped she remembered it...

Inside the restroom, Deepika wiped her tears while Ranveer waited for her to answer his call. Her phone buzzed in her hand, his name and a picture of him holding their daughter in his arms appeared on the screen. She closed her eyes, holding back new tears. She knew how much Ranveer loved her and Ria. The idea of someone coming in between them and breaking their family apart terrified her. She never ever thought of the possibility and she didn't even think it was a real possibility because she trusted her husband, but still, the mere thought of Valentina trying disturbed her.

She ignored the call and her voicemail greeted him instead of her. "C'mon Deepika..." He said to himself and hung up only to try one more time and once again, she didn't answer. She wanted to talk to him but not yet, she needed a moment to calm down. Ranveer though didn't have a moment to spare and upon noticing nobody seemed to be coming out of the restroom or making any noise inside, he decided to go in. F*ck the rules, he wanted to see her now.

As he predicted, the restroom was empty, except for one of the stalls whose door was closed. He bent down to take a peek of the woman's feet and shoes to see if it was Deepika. And it was her, for sure, he immediately recognized her soft cries as he approached the door.

"Deepu..." He said with a small voice and yet it startled her. It didn't occur to her that he would dare to go inside the women's restroom and she should have thought of it. Now that she thought of it, of course he would...

"Deepika, darling. Please don't cry because of that. I'm-"

"You can't be in here..." She interrupted him without really listening to him.

"I'm sorry... I- I shouldn't have let her do that. I'm sorry." He didn't care that he wasn't supposed to be there, he wanted to apologize and explain what happened. He felt guilty. He blamed himself because he didn't react and unwillingly, he allowed it. It didn't mean he wanted it, much less that he enjoyed it. Honestly, he didn't think much of it until Arjun told him Deepika saw it. He met Valentina just recently and soon noticed her overfamiliarity. What she did caught him off guard but he didn't think it meant she had a thing for him or anything. She was like that with pretty much everyone but Deepika didn't know that, people who didn't know her didn't realize it either. He couldn't blame Deepika for finding her "friendliness" inappropriate, it surprised him too after all.
