Sitting at his table, Aya slumped. His black hair nearly covering his clouded, wet, purple eyes. He looked up, seeing the empty 4 person table. Closing his eyes, he visioned the sweet times. His Sister, Mary on his left teasing him and having fun. His mom cooking dinner with the nicest smile on her face. His dad cracking the best worst jokes in the world. Everything was happier. It was sweet. His fantasizing was interrupted by the ringing of his cell phone. Taking it out of his pocket, he saw the number was Aubrey's. "Hello?" He said in a quiet voice. "Hey Aya! Guess what? My parents said you could come over for the night! If you want to of course.". Aya pondered for a moment. He didn't want to be alone right now, and Aubrey was offering food that wasn't cup noodles. "Yes please" Aya agreed. "Awesome!" Aubrey cheered. "Hey. I need to tell you something.". Aya perked his brow, interested in what she had to say. "In 2 weeks, I'm gonna challenge the masked guy. And I'm gonna brawl and beat him-" Aubrey was about to boast before she was cut off by a surprisingly loud remark from Aya. "NO!" He shouted. Memories of his sister's bakugan screaming as they fall into an unknown space. His sister screaming and crying over her fallen bakugan. And finally, her corpse hanging from the tree that they would play together on. Tears starting to flow again, fearing the same would happen to Aubrey. "Hey hey hey...don't worry. I have a plan!" she said confidently. But Aya knew better. He was there in the field with his sister when she battled the masked man. It didn't matter how hard you planned, he would counter it flawlessly. "You don't understand Aubrey...he's too powerful. His bakugan are too strong. You'll get shredded and you'll lose your bakugan...forever." Aya said through his held back sobbing. "Wait...Aya? How do you know that?" Aubrey questioned him. "Cause I was there. I was there when Mari battled him. I saw his bakugan. I saw his cards...especially the doom card..." Aya shuddered at the mention of the card. "Doom Card?" Aubrey pressed. "Yes. It's a special card he plays. Any bakugan defeated by his...gets sent to the doom dimension...never to be seen again...they die there...it's what happened to Mary's bakugan..." Aya informed. He was barely able to hold back himself from melting down. "Aya...I won't let him do it. I'll beat him before he can hurt anymore people! I promise!" Aubrey said in an optimistic tone. "Anyway, I'll see you in just a bit! Bye!" The phone hung up. Aya curled into a ball...he wasn't able to convince Aubrey to back down...she was going to meet the same fate. "Why... WHY AM I SO WEAK AND STUPID!?" Aya sobbed. Unable to contain his emotions. "So...it was you who I sensed needed help." A voice called to Aya. He looked around, trying to locate it's source. "Up in your window sill, Human." Aya looked where the voice called. And saw it. Glowing in the moonlight, was a darkus bakugan. But it wasn't one of his. The bakugan rolled down onto the floor and opened. "Hello human." the bakugan greeted him. It had 2 wings, 2 legs and a horn. "What bakugan are you? I feel like I've seen you somewhere before." Aya asked him. "I am darkus Dragonid." It introduced. Dragonoid...Aya had heard that name before. Daniel Kuso of the battle brawlers! He has a dragonoid! But wait...his is pyrus. This one is darkus. "You seek power right?" The dragonoid spoke. Aya snapped out of his daze. "Yes...yes I do! I want more power! I...I...I just want to be able to protect the ones I love...I already failed that once and I paid for it...dearly...not a day goes by where I don't see her body hanging in front of my in my mind...it won't leave me...and it never will. But if I was stronger... I can prevent that from happening to anyone else! So yes, I do want strength!". The dragonoid paused for a bit...then chuckled. " Very well. Then I shall lend you my strength. We will protect your loved ones together...as a team." The dragonid declared. This was it. What he yearned for for so long. The strength to protect. "Thank you! Thank you thank you thank you so much!" Aya had the widest smile he ever had in a long, long time. The dragonoid hopped into his hands and closed itself. "Now, did I hear you were going somewhere tonight?". Recollection flashed in Aya's eyes. He remembered Aubrey was on her way to pick him up. Speak of the devil, the doorbell rang.
