Chapter 16: Doom Companion

The morning after, Aya was preparing himself. He built three different decks, based on the assumption he would lose some Bakugan to the Doom Card. "Dragonoid. I will be sure you're not sent to the Doom Dimension." Aya said to his partner. "Don't worry, Aya. I trust you. I said I would help you to the very end and I have no plans on going back on that word." Dragonoid replied. Dragonoid closed into a ball and Aya grabbed him. Aya pulled out his cell phone, and shot Aubrey a text. He knew that, despite not wanting to, this is something he had to do alone. "I'm sorry guys. Aubrey's gonna chew my ass out for this." Aya mumbles.

A COUPLE HOURS LATER

"HE WHAT!?" Wokko shouted. Aubrey had texted Jamie and Wokko to meet her. "He went off alone to find a dude with a Doom Card." Aubrey said with a stern look. When she had gotten that text from Aya, she shook. "Is he crazy!? That's suicide!" Jamie yelled. "No shit! We need to find him NOW!" Aubrey declared. "Agreed. Let's go into town. Lots of people there." Cendrillion said. "We must find Aya before it's too late!" Gaianoid added. "Well what are we waiting for!? Let's go!" Inferneon shouted. All of them nodded and they all darted towards town to find Aya.

ELSEWHERE...

Aya was walking along the sidewalk by the river. "Still haven't found one. I bet everyone's looking for me by now." Aya said. "Most likely. But we will keep looking." Dragonoid replied. Aya stopped, noticing a boy by the river. Just standing there. "Hello suspicious looking dude." Aya mumbled under his breath. Aya walked toward the boy. "What's up? What's a dude like you staying out here all by your lonesome?" Aya asked with a coy tone. The boy turned to Aya, holding a serious look. "Judging by the Bakupod on your wrist, I take it you're a brawler. Name's Aya. You?" Aya said. "I'm Fantaro. And yes, I am a brawler. But I'm waiting on someone so shoo." The boy replied. "Aw c'mon don't be like that. Who you waiting on? A friend?" Aya asked with a mocking tone. "I'm waiting on Dan Kuso. I'm supposed to battle him. Unless..." Fantaro pulled out a card. The Doom Card. "You know what this is?" Fantaro asked. Plenty of emotions swelled in Aya with all of them being negative. Sorrow, rage, irritation, fury. But even with all of that, all he could do is smile. But it wasn't a genuine smile of happiness. There was a wicked aura to it. "As a matter of fact, I do...all too well." Aya replied, pulling out a field card. "What are you doing!?" Fantaro asked. "Lemme be a pal and give you a warm up." Aya said. "My battle is with Dan Kuso! But since you insist...so be it! I'll take out your Bakugan, then I'll take out Dan's!" Fantaro shouted as he equipped the launcher all allies of Masquerade had, pulling out a field card. "FIELD OPEN!" They shouted. The field opened itself up as it surrounded to two brawlers. "DOOM CARD SET!" Fantaro commanded. The card slipped from his fingers as purple pulses shot through the floor. "Stay focused." Aya mumbled to himself. "GATE CARD SET!" The brawlers shouted. Purple and Yellow lit up the arena. "So he's a Haos user. Perfect." Aya said, smirking. "I'll go first! BAKUGAN BRAWL! HAOS TUSKOR STAND!" Tuskor stood on Fantaro's card. Aya chuckled as he started to put his strategy into motion. "GATE CARD SET! BAKUGAN BRAWL! LASERMAN STAND!" Aya shouted. Whirring emitted from Laserman as it rose on the card Aya set at the start of the battle. "I'll send that Laserman to the Doom Dimension! BAKUGAN BRAWL! CENTEPOID STAND!" Fantaro shouted, throwing Centepoid at the card Laserman was on. Centepoid screeched at Laserman. "I don't think so. ABILITY CARD ACTIVATE! TRACTOR BEAM!" Laserman fired beams at Centepoid, raising into the air and slamming it on the card Aya set previously. "You little brat!" Fantaro scowled. "BAKUGAN BRAWL! SERPENOID STAND!" Aya shouted. Serpenoid stood on the card Centepoid was on and hissed at its opponent.

"Centepoid Power Level 400g. Serpenoid Power Level 440g."

"ABILITY CARD ACTIVATE! LIGHT BOOST!" Fantaro shouted.

Light Boost - Ability Card for Haos. Increases g-power by 150g.

"Destroy him Centepoid! Show him what happens when people mess with us and try to get in the way of Masquerade!" Fantaro commanded his Bakugan. Aya simply chuckled. "GATE CARD OPEN! MIGHTY DARK!" Aya shouted. The gate card opened, swallowing Serpenoid in darkness and doubling its G-Power. "Wh-what!?" Fantaro shouted in surprise. "ATTACK, SERPENOID!" Aya yelled. Serpenoid hissed loudly as it bit down on Centepoid. Centepoid hissed in pain as it returned to ball form. Serpenoid hissed in triumph, returning to Aya. "How do you like that punk?" Aya asked with a snare in his voice. "This battle has just begun!" Fantaro shouted. He looked at Aya's Laserman. "You seem fond of that Laserman. I think I'll give it a one way ticket to the Doom Dimension! BAKUGAN BRAWL! MANION STAND!" Fantaro shouted, throwing it at Laserman's card.

"Laserman Power Level 400g. Manion Power Level 450g."

"Oh no you don't. GATE CARD OPEN! DARKUS!" Aya shouted. "Sorry but that won't work! ABILITY CARD ACTIVATE! DESTRUCTION SPOTLIGHT!"

Destruction Spotlight - Ability Card for Haos. Negates your opponent's attribute card.

"No...Laserman..." Aya whispered. "SAY GOODBYE!" Fantaro shouted. Aya, in a desperation attempt, pulled out one Ability Card. "ABILITY CARD ACTIVATE! COP-OUT!"

Cop-Out - Replace the battling Bakugan with one not currently in play.

Laserman returned to Aya. But in it's place, Serpenoid was sent out. "I'm sorry..." Aya whispered. Serpenoid hissed, but it was cut off by a claw attack from Manion. Serpenoid was sent reeling back as a black and purple portal opened, swallowing Serpenoid. Just like that, Serpenoid was gone. Aya stared blankly at the direction Serpenoid went. Manion returned to Fantaro, who was laughing maliciously. "Sacrificing Serpenoid to save your Laserman? How cruel of you!" Fantaro continued to laugh. His laugh was cut short however when he noticed something. A dark aura surrounding Aya. "H-hey. Wh-what's with you!? You...You have a really creepy aura on you!" Fantaro stammered in a mix of shock and fear. "Dragonoid. It's time. That card he set with Tuskor has to be a triple battle..." Aya stared at Dragonoid. Aya's eyes almost...glowing. "tear them both apart." Aya explained. "His Bakugan will be mere shreds by the time I am finished." Dragonoid replied, surrounded by the same aura. Aya clutched Dragonoid. Suddenly, he glared at Fantaro. Fantaro shivered at the glare, feeling a sense of dread. "What in the world? I feel like I'm being stared at by a demon! What is this guy!?" Fantaro thought. Aya prepared to throw. "BAKUGAN BRRRRAAAAAAWWWLL!!!" Dragonoid scraped through the ground and, right before he stood, jumped up. "DRAGONOID STAND!" Dragonoid flew up and roared. His teeth and claws sharper. His eyes blank. The dark aura intensified around him. "G-G-GATE CARD OPEN! T-TRIPLE BATTLE!" Fantaro stammered. Manion was put into battle.

"Tuskor and Manion combined Power Level 850g. Dragonoid Power Level 550g."

"T-Take him out Manion and Tuskor!" Fantaro said. "I'm going to show you what true hell is like..." Aya snarled, pulling out 2 Ability Cards. "DOUBLE ABILITY ACTIVATE! VOID QUASAR PLUS DARK BOOST!"

Void Quasar- Ability Card for Darkus Dragonoid. Increases g-power by 200g.

Dark Boost- Ability Card for Darkus. Increases g-power by 150g.

"DRAGONOOOIIIIIID!!!" Aya shouted. The aura was getting even stronger. "AYA! THIS IS IT! THE POWER OF..."

"Dragonoid power level increasing..."

"B L A C K  C O N V I C T I O N !" Aya and Dragonoid said in unison. Dragonoid charged up a large beam, and within moments, Manion and Tuskor was swallowed by it. With that, the field closed. Fantaro stood in pure shock. The aura was gone, but the fury in Aya's glare remained. Aya's ears perked up to the sound of footsteps behind him. "Great they found me. I'm in for an earful." Aya mumbled. He looked back at Fantaro. "Listen, if you see Masquerade again, tell him...that Aya Mono is looking for him. And if he doesn't remember that name, tell him to remember Mary." Aya told him. Fantaro shook before pointing at Aya. "YOU- YOU'RE A MONSTER!!!" Fantaro shouted in fear. Throwing the Doom Card and his Launcher to the ground and then running away as fast as he could. Aya looked down at the items Fantaro had dropped. Before stomping on them with all his might. The Card and Launcher broke and crumbled under his foot. "Alright Aubrey. Get it over with. I know I shouldn't have gone alone." Aya said, ready for the inevitable scolding. "Aubrey? Dunno who that is...but...I came here cause that freak challenged me!" A younger voice said. Aya's eyes widened. The voice, the words said, he didn't even need to turn around to know who it was. Despite that, he turned anyway. He was faced with a boy. He had a yellow shirt, red over jacket, red pants and black shoes. He wore blue gloves and had brown hair and red eyes. Sunglasses resting on the top of his head. But his most defining feature, a Pyrus Dragonoid on his shoulder. Daniel Kuso of the Bakugan Battle Brawlers.
