Chapter 33: Power of Earth

Julie glared at Billy, a swirl of emotions stirring within her. Sorrow, confusion, rage. Why was her childhood best friend working with Masquerade? She just couldn't understand. "Julie." Jamie tapped her shoulder. "Hm?" Julie turned to face him. "I'm...sorry for losing it back there. If there is one thing in this world I hate the most, it's traitors." Jamie apologized. "No. It's fine. To be honest, I feel like beating him up too." Julie growled. "Just stay focused and be ready for anything." Jamie said, looking ahead at the enemy in front of him. Julie nodded. "DOOM CARD SET!" Billy and Samuel threw down their doom cards. "GATE CARD SET!" All 4 of them yelled. The field lit up with bright orange. "I'm up! BAKUGAN BRAWL! HYNOID STAND!" Billy threw Hynoid at his card. "You're up Baku-babe!" Billy mocked. Julie was about to snap back, but Jamie grasped her shoulder, motioning her to listen. "I have an idea." Jamie whispered, he then whispered a plan into Julie's ear. "Ooooh! I gotcha! Alright you got it!" Julie exclaimed. "Julie. Throw me in. Allow me to do this." Gorem suggested. "Alright! You got it Gorem! GATE CARD SET! BAKUGAN BRAWL! GOREM STAND!" Julie threw Gorem onto her card, the giant Bakugan rose. "WOAH! HE'S HUGE!" Samuel exclaimed. "Yeah, and don't think that size is compensating for something, he's got the strength to back it up." Billy told Samuel. "Hey, Julie, is that shield on Gorem just for show?" Jamie asked. "Nope! It's as durable as durable can be!" Julie winked. "Good. He might need it." Jamie looked at Samuel. "Well you all know the old saying, the bigger they are, the harder they fall! BAKUGAN BRAWL! GARGANOID STAND!" Samuel threw Garganoid on the same card as Gorem. "Now time to-" Samuel started. "Ah ah aah! Not so fast boy! GATE CARD OPEN! EARTH STALL!" Julie commanded. "Huh?" Samule said in shock. "Earth stall is a Gate Card that keeps the battle on hold until a Subterra Bakugan is thrown onto the Gate!" Julie explained. "GATE CARD SET! BAKUGAN BRAWL! MANTRIS STAND!" Jamie threw Mantris onto the card he originally set. "ABILITY CARD ACTIVATE! MARIONETTE!" Jamie yelled. Mantris moved Garganoid to the card he just set. "My turn! ABILITY CARD ACTIVATE! LANDSLIDE!" Julie shouted.

Landslide: An Ability Card for Subterra. Move any Bakugan to any Gate Card.

Hynoid was moved to the same card as Garganoid. "And now, GATE CARD OPEN! MINE GHOST!" Jamie commanded. The card exploded, defeating both Bakugan. "Awh dammit!" Billy kicked the ground. "Alright it worked!" Julie cheered. "Great thinking, Jamie." Gorem complimented. "Thank you." Jamie fixed his glasses. He couldn't help but notice that Julie's smile and attitude reminded him of Monique. "This isn't over yet!" Billy yelled. "Put me in Coach! Put me in!" Cycloid hyped. "You got it! BAKUGAN BRAWL! CYCLOID STAND!" Billy threw Cycloid, as if throwing a baseball. He threw it onto Jamie's original card. "THIS IS REVENGE FOR DECKIN MY BOSS!" Cycloid yelled.

"Mantris power level 400g. Cycloid Power Level 500g."

"GATE CARD OPEN! TRIPLE BATTLE!" Jamie commanded. "Nice try! ABILITY CARD ACTIVATE! LEFT GITANTES!" Billy shouted.

Left Gigantes: Ability Card for Cycloid. Nullify enemy gate.

"Shit!" Jamie cussed. With one swing of his hammer, Cycloid bashed Mantris, sending him straight to the doom dimension. Cycloid let out a hearty laugh before returning to Billy. "Jamie?" Julie asked with concern. "I'm fine. We're not out yet." Jamie said through gritted teeth. "Ok." Julie nodded. "Come on already!" Billy mocked again. "SHUT IT! BAKUGAN BRAWL! TUSKOR STAND!" Julie threw Tuskor onto her card. Samuel pulled out his 2nd Bakugan, but was stopped by Billy. "Hey. Bakugan sent to the Doom Dimension are gone for good right? Like, they can never come back?" Billy asked. Samuel thought for a second. "Yep. Why do you ask?" Samuel questioned. Billy paused for a moment. "Are you...having second thoughts about using the Doom Card?" Samuel asked further. "H-Heck no! I'm completely loyal to Naga and I'll get rid of these guys's Bakugan!" Billy stated. But in truth, he wasn't exactly sure. "Billy." Samuel motioned him to get closer. Billy leaned in. "If you want to retract your Doom Card, I won't fault you. I won't tell Naga or Masquerade what happened. I'll just say they were more powerful than we expected and we could only win one." Samuel proposed. "What?" Billy was confused on why Samuel was allowing this. "In fact, I think it's better for you to leave. Run away. I know you don't want to hurt Julie. I'll cover you." Samuel continued. "I...one more battle. Then I'll decide." Billy said. "Very well." Samuel nodded. However, regardless, it was still Samuel's turn. "GATE CARD SET! BAKUGAN BRAWL! TERRORCLAW STAND!" Samuel threw Terrorclaw on the card he just set. "Hmph. BAKUGAN BRAWL! LIMULUS STAND!" Jamie threw Limulus to battle Samuel's Terrorclaw. "ABILITY CARD ACTIVATE! HORSESHOE STINGER!"
