I kept re-reading that quote as I tried to understand it, I was laying on the couch reading my book as I waited for my boyfriend Dallas to get home.
It was Valentines day and I haven't seen him all day, well.. I don't know what I expected from a tough Greaser like him.. a big valentines day present? or a bunch of flowers like Sodapop does to his girlfriend?
I guess I shouldn't have expected anything from him when I agreed to be his girlfriend, I saw this coming..
I sighed as I decided to take a walk outside, as I was opening the door I saw Sodapop and Steve walking up to me,
"Oh hey guys" I said as I put on my sweater
"Hey Y/N where ya off to?" Sodapop said
I shrugged "I dunno wherever I think of" I said
"Wait! Y/N come with us" Steve said as they motioned me to come over
I shot them a puzzled look
"Okay?" I said while stretching out the word
I followed them as they marched over to Ponyboy and Johnny at the lot
"Okay guys c'mon were ready" Sodapop said while winking at them
"What is going on!" I yelled
"Can't tell" Ponyboy said while he smirked
I rolled my eyes playfully as we went to pick up Darry and Two-Bit
"Does she know?" Darry whispered to Sodapop
He squealed as he shook his head
I folded my arms as we walked into the autumnal forest
"Y'know if you guys wanted to kill me there's a forest about 15 seconds away from your house" I said
They all laughed
"Nope, just continue walking" Darry said as he pointed along the path
"Okay but wh-" I said, but as I turned around they were gone
I took a deep breath
"Great probably here to pull a prank on me, just what I need on Valentines day" I muttered
Suddenly, I saw light on the ground, I kept walking closer as I saw vanilla candles, rose petals scattered on the ground, and the trees were covered by fairy lights while the moonlight glowed in the middle, like a spotlight.
"Woah" I whispered
Suddenly I saw Dallas step into the moonlight wearing a tux and holding a light pink rose
My heart stopped as I was having trouble to catch my breath, Dallas was so handsome it practically knocked the breath out of me.. It made me fall in love with him all over again..

He was looking at the ground when all of a sudden he looked at me, then smiled.. his rare smile.

"Hey doll" he said as he eyed me
I smiled as he stepped closer
"Y'know doll when I first met you I wasn't sure you were gonna last very long, but now.. your kinda like my oxygen, I can't live without ya man- ER I mean doll" He said
I laughed softly
"So I guess what I'm trying to say is" he said as bent down on one knee
I covered my mouth with my sleeve, as tears rolled down my cheek
"Y/N Y/L/N will you be my partner in crime?" he said
I nodded as I smiled
"Yes, Dallas Winston" you said as he slipped the ring on your finger
He smiled as kissed me, for the first time it was gentle
I could hear the gang cheering from behind the bush
"CREEPERS" I laughed
Dallas laughed as he whispered something in the crook of my neck
