Jack was kneeling directly in front of me, looking into my eyes, I could smell him, my most favourite smell of all time a Terry’s Chocolate Orange, I could feel my wolf drool, and without doubt Jack was my mate, as he stroked my fur electricity flowed down my body through to my tail which was thumping away, yep I was ready to ‘Tap it and unwrap it’ as the advert said I wanted Jack.

“Cass, are you listening to me?” I was drooling, dreaming, I wanted Jack, my wolf was purring like some kitten, “Cass I can read your thoughts, keep them clean we need to talk or I will be taking you straight upstairs rather than going for a run.”

“Holy Shit, shit did I just say that? Did he hear what I was thinking?”

“Yup all of it Cass, You are a truly beautiful wolf and you are all mine and I can’t wait for you to unwrap me, God I love you!”

“What do I look like, why is everyone so shocked, do I look like a real dog?”

He looked deep into my eyes, “Cass, you are so beautiful, I have never ever seen a wolf like you before, you are pure GOLD, your eyes are still a vivid emerald green but around your pupil you also have a ring of gold, Cass you are one special wolf.” I thought about this as did my wolf, she was smug, as if she knew she was special, “Cass, CASS are you listening?” Again I looked back to Jack dragged out of my thoughts, “Your dad wants to talk to you, he is about to accept your wolf into the pack so we can all mind link with you, before he does that, remember if you are thinking saucy PLEASE PUT UP A BLOCK! “ He said this with a smutty smirk, I could feel my wolf rolling her eyes, he continued “If you want to talk to just one person, think of that person, then speak, you will get the hang of it.”

He gave me one last stroke behind my ears and down my neck to where my mark would be, YUP, I need a block, my hormones were in total over drive. Dad then stood in front of me, he looked down at me, “Cass!” it was said in Alpha tone making my head jerk upwards and away from my sleazy thoughts, “Cass, I Alpha Sean accept you into the Dromoland Pack, we promise to protect you and train you, we promise as a pack to ensure your safety, do you Cass wish to join, this pack and do you promise to accept the rules of this pack and me as your Alpha?”

I could feel a strange sense come over me, as if my brain was making links, in my head I said, “I DO!” with those two words, I could hear my father in my head and it seemed about 230 other voices, yep the whole pack was there, welcoming me! I could feel my head being thrown back and a blood curdling howl erupted from chest, next thing I knew, my dad was a wolf flanking my left, Jack’s wolf was on my right and John to my rear as they joined me, before I knew it every member of the pack had surrounded us, my howl had called to them, as they approached they bowed their head in reverence, to me the golden wolf, I stopped the howling, “They acknowledge us, they see we are special, it is time for us all to go together on a run, but first you must visit your mother,” my wolf said.

I stood and looked around, Hannah looked at me and whispered in my head, “I have to stay with Roisin, but Cass you are magnificent now enjoy your run!”

I gave a final howl and headed into the forest, towards my cabin, I went and sat under my mum’s tree and I thought of her. Suddenly a golden glow appeared and there in front of the tree stood mum, beside her to her left and right stood 4 other women and then at the end a beautiful golden wolf, I was mesmerised. My mum looked at me, a smile across her lips, “Cass, you are so beautiful, you are the golden wolf, the last one was 500 years ago, you are the seventh female born in my family, and every seventh becomes a golden wolf, your great, great, great, great, great, grandmother was the last one born,” she pointed to the golden wolf on the end who nodded at me, “all females born for 6 generations appear to be human, but the gene runs through them, you are that 7th daughter.” She then looked at Jack and dad, “Jack, as her mate you must protect her because others will want her for her powers, you must complete the mating process soon,” if I could have blushed at that moment I would have, “Sean, your pack must protect her as well, she is destined for great things, John you will soon become Alpha, please look after your sister, she will ultimately protect your pack, it is your  job to train her and help her find her powers.” I looked to dad, John and Jack, I wasn’t sure if they could see this, but they were all nodding, captivated with mum and my ancestors, listening to her every word and bowing. She then looked out to the pack, “You are her family, her pack, look after my daughter,” the pack all bowed down, ears pinned back in a sign of submission and understanding.

Finally she turned to me again, “We are here Cass, to guide you, listen and you will hear us, I love you Cass, now go for that run,” she smiled at me, “I love you Cass, I am so very proud of you, I love you very, very much!” With that the golden wolf who was my ancestor threw back her head and howled, my wolf howled, dad, Jack and John joined in and once again the whole pack did, we were powerful, one voice calling out to my ancestors. My mum faded and I jumped and ran, flanked by dad, John and Jack and followed by my pack.

We ran until sunset, one body, one mind, they all knew something special had happened, I knew I had a job ahead of me, I just wasn’t sure what it was yet.
