Chapter 35

Cass’s POV

We set the wedding for four weeks, I knew Jack was always going to be in my life, maybe it was the mate bond that triggered that pull, but it was Jack’s love, thoughtfulness, etc. that sealed it.

Hannah was delighted as was Roisin, I left them take over the reception, Jack was sorting the ceremony itself, all I had to do was find the right dress and think about my vows, I wanted the wording just right, I wanted Jack and every witness to know and understand that this was a love between two souls that had become one, fused together, made whole.

I found the perfect dress and I knew what I was going to wear on my head, Roisin was my maid of honour and dad was to give me away, I was literally floating on cloud nine.

The day arrived; I was large enough that you could tell I was pregnant but small enough that with in the folds of my dress it didn’t stand out.

I bathed in vanilla bath essence, My hair was to be simple as everything else, ringlets cascading down my back, with a simple circle of fresh flowers as a head dress, made up of some greenery but mostly of tiny little Lilly of the Valleys, that had a beautiful  fragrance, I wouldn’t need perfume.

Around my neck hung my mother’s pearls – something old, Hannah and Roisin had bought me a blue garter, - something new, My dress was new, and for borrowed, a pair of drop pearl earrings from Hannah that matched my mother’s necklace perfectly. I had bought some Victoria Secrets underwear, white lace – that was a little gift for Jack.

I was sat, in my underwear, with a robe over me, a small amount of make up being applied, Hannah and Roisin, were cooing and ahhing, I felt like a princess, I wasn’t nervous, it all felt so right, it was time to put on the dress. It was made out of French lace, it was a simple design, long sleeves, that hugged my arms and fell to a V shape over my hand, the neck was scalloped the body fit tightly to my waist and then with a slight V above my stomach splayed out. I had a velvet, emerald green cape, because Jack in his wisdom had decided that getting married in the woods was the perfect setting, the cape hung on my shoulders complimenting the dress, bring warmth, when I looked in the mirror, I gasped, I looked beautiful, my eyes had been highlighted and the green of them shone out reflecting back the colour of the cape. Hannah and Roisin left too quickly finish getting ready.

A gentle tap came to the door, it was dad, as soon as he looked at me he welled up, “Cass, you are truly beautiful, I am so very proud to be your father, and even in the short time I have known you I want you to know that you are perfect in every way and Jack is one hell of a lucky guy.” He handed me by bouquet, a simple arrangement of Lillie’s held together with an emerald green ribbon.

I took his hand and kissed his cheek, “Thank you, I love you to dad.” I could feel myself welling up, I had been lucky, I could have been alone after mum’s death but instead I found a family who accepted me without hesitation and who I knew loved me. He took my arm and gently steered me out of the door and towards the staircase, “Are you ready, because I have a very anxious Beta waiting for you?”

I nodded and holding onto his arm I went down the staircase. We went out the back door, Roisin was waiting smiling, she led the way. Jack had laid a red carpet along the forest path we had walked so many times, it was beautiful, walking with dad, as we approached my cabin, I felt my tears well up, Jack had built a beautiful, white, wooden gazebo from wood and he was standing inside with the priest, it was next to mum’s grave and around it he had planted Lilies, all around it were seats; I could see smiling members of the pack, John and Hannah at the front.
