Chapter 33

Cass’s POV

Full recovery seemed to take ages, my body was weak, the pack doctor thought that maybe my body had used up everything it had when it caused the shield to occur, and that it went into a sort of hibernation to protect the pups, rather than allow me to recover. I spent some time explaining how the silver shield was me, but the golden shield happened when my ancestors came to support me, my dad thought that collectively we had huge power and reminded me that mum had said in my time of need they would help me.

The pack were so happy I had recovered and I had a steady stream of visitors, not that Jack was too happy, he liked that the pack were happy but he wanted time with me on our own and I could see he was getting frustrated. It had been three weeks since I had woken up, I was now up and moving around, my stomach was beginning to show, as the pups grew, and today I had a scan.

I knew that I was carrying twins, two babies, mum had told me, my dilemma should I tell Jack or should I act surprised, I decided that I should tell him, we were in the car travelling to the clinic, (it wasn’t all that far and we could have walked but jack was being protective and didn’t want me exerting myself, I was enjoying being spoilt and this was the first time I knew I could talk to Jack without being interrupted, “Jack?”

“Baby?”

“I have something to tell you.”

“What?” he asked trying to drive and look at me at the same time.

 “I know what we’re having.”

“What, how?”

“When the doctor was trying to restart my heart, mum was talking to me, I had to make the decision to stay with her or return to you, she told me I was pregnant then and that it is twins, a boy and a girl.”

The brakes were slammed on, as Jack swerved into the side, he pulled me onto his lap cradling my head to his chest and gently massaging my stomach, “You chose me,” he choked out.

I softly held his face kissed his lips and replied, “Of course I chose you, Jack you have no idea how much I love you, how I longed to be with you whilst I was out, it was you and the thought of being held in your arms that kept me going, I heard your call, after the first attempt didn’t restart my heart, I saw it all Jack, I chose life, I chose you and our pups!”

He placed his forehead against mine, “I thought I was going to die, when your heart didn’t restart the first time, I thank God your dad told him to go again.”

I smirked, “I think roared at him would be a better description.”

“You really saw it all?”

I just nodded, “Mum said I am carrying a boy and a girl, the boy will be a full wolf, but the girl will be human, she carries the golden wolf gene for future generations, we will have to protect her Jack, be careful of her.”

“If you think I am EVER leaving you or our pups out of my sight again, I can’t go through that again,” he said as he kissed my neck and mark.

I could feel my body heat up, “Jack unless you want to do this in public in a car can we stop now, and maybe make that appointment, I want to see our pups!”

He laughed, “I will stop now, but honey once the doctor confirms you are healthy I intend to make up for lost time, I want to go away for a couple of days just me and you, not far, but sometime alone, and I don’t intend to go sight-seeing!” he said this as his eyebrows were raised and a boyish smirk on his face.

“That sounds perfect, I can’t wait.” He held my hand for rest of the journey.

We made the rest of the journey to the hospital in record time, and were seen about 15 minutes later then a scheduled appointment time, the nurse showed us into  a small room, that was darkish with a bed for me to lie on and a machine next to it. She attached a belt with sensors around my stomach and attached it up to the machine, suddenly we could hear heart beats and somehow, at that moment I knew that the life inside of me was the most important thing in my life next to Jack and that I would cherish it.

A couple of minutes later the doctor came in, he asked us some questions, then he asked me to roll my top up a bit more and my bottoms down a bit, Jack was growling, I had to hold his hand and calm him, thank God this doctor was a member of the pack and understood Jack’s possessiveness, he squirted on some gel and then placed a small wand type thing on my stomach that was attached to a monitor and then we saw it he pointed out what looked like a small blob, but slowly, he showed us arms, and legs, and a beating heart, it was magical, then he smiled and said there are two, I grinned, although I already knew, it was good to know mum had been looking out for me, he checked the vitals on both foetuses  and told us they were both good, then he asked us if we wanted to know the sex, Jack nodded, in awe, a few seconds later, the doctor pointed out the boy, who was protectively curled around his sister.

Jack was beaming, chest puffed out, a really proud daddy, he was carrying out the little scan photos the doctor had given us, stroking them, loving them, he was going to make such a great daddy, he was elated! He was also happy that the doctor had given me a clean bill of health; he fully intended to take full advantage of me at the earliest opportunity.

We headed home with Jack talking about names, a nursery, cots, baby clothes, he was very excited. We walked in and there was Hannah, Dad, John and Roisin all around the table waiting, they were worried that with everything that had happened something might have harmed the babies. Jack was just beaming, Hannah looked at me, “Well?”

Jack couldn’t contain himself, “It’s TWINS!” he almost exploded with pride, “a boy and a girl,” then as if he had held in every emotion possible tears of happiness began to flow as he held me close and nuzzled himself into my neck.

There was a collective scream, as Hannah, dad, John and Roisin ran to us hugging us, tears of happiness flowed. I really had the best family ever.

“Alpha Sean, I’d like to ask your permission to take Cass away for a couple of days, we really need the break and time alone,” Jack said as he looked at dad.

My dad furrowed his brow, “I want to make sure she stays safe, but what about the small cottage we have by the sea, it’s not too far, but it has all the latest security, I would feel much happier if you stayed there, would that be OK?”

I grinned, Jack smiled and together we said, “PERFECT, THANKS,” we were heading way for a romantic weekend and as Jack so nicely put it not to sight see unless it was the bedroom, I could feel myself heating up at the thought and that was when Jack whisked me up to the bedroom, making sure he locked the door after us to ravish me without interruption.
