Chapter 16

When I woke up Jack was gone but his scent lingered and I snuggled into it, I was happy, happier then I had been in a long time. I hopped out of bed, showered, dressed and headed downstairs for breakfast, Hannah and Dad were there.

I grabbed a few sausages onto my plate and started to eat, dad looked at me and said, “Cass, we are having a gathering tonight of the pack and I would like to introduce you as my daughter if that’s OK, will you come?”

I hate big party type events, I’m naturally a shy person, but I knew this was important for dad, and as a soon to be member of the pack I guess for me as well, “Do I need to dress up?”

Hannah looked at me and replied, “A dress will do, something you feel comfortable in, it’s formal but not too formal.”

We discussed a few more details about it and then I headed out to my cabin I wanted to finish the painting of Jack and his wolf, I needed to add background and a few finishing touches to man and wolf.

The day passed, the painting finished, it was really beautiful, or maybe that was because it meant I could look into Jack’s eyes without feeling self-conscious. I headed in grabbed a quick snack as there would be food tonight and went to get ready.

I showered and with a towel wrapped around me headed into my closet to find something that might be suitable. A knock came to the door and Hannah peeped her head around the corner, “Want any help?”

“Please.”

She came over to the closet and started to flick through my clothes, she found an emerald green and white body-con dress that I had worn for my leaving do at school, it suited me, made my eyes seem greener if that’s even possible, I had a pair of green shoes which matched it exactly, “This,” she said, “is perfect.”

She made me sit down and dried my hair, then with a curling tongs began to place small, yet gentle ringlets that framed my face and tumbled down my back. She applied a small amount of make up to my face and added a dusky effect to my eyes, that made them seem huge and very vivid, finally a smattering of lip gloss. She left me then to get dressed by myself but not before saying, “Cass you are very beautiful, I know I can never replace your mum, but I want you to know I am here for you, and I love you as a daughter.” Then with a quick hug and a meet you downstairs she was gone to get ready.

I took off the towel, grabbed a clean pair of knickers and a bra and put them on. I looked at the dress on the bed, slipped it on then slid my feet into the shoes a quick squirt of perfume and I headed downstairs. Dad, Hannah, John and Roisin were all down there waiting for me, Dad told me I looked beautiful, John whistled and said how he would have to keep half the pack at bay tonight to protect his sister (cute!) and Roisin and Hannah just seemed to smile knowing smiles.

The meeting was over in the castle in one of the function rooms, it was dry night and only a 5 minute walk, so we headed off along the path. The moon was almost full and it reminded me I had just under a week until I shift, I could feel my wolf, getting excited at the prospect, and then as we got closer to the castle she started to bounce she could smell Jack, I gave a small smile, I was looking forward to seeing Jack as well.

We went in and I was amazed at huge the function room was, it was beautifully decorated with twinkly lights everywhere and candles , it was very romantic, tables were laid for a meal. There were so many people all waiting our arrival or should I say dads, their Alpha. We headed towards the top table, Jack was sitting at one end, his smile as I approached was pure lust and love, he touched my hand and told me how beautiful I was. I sat beside him, whilst dad and Hannah took the centre seats, “Let the meal begin!” dad boomed and waiters and waitresses seemed to appear from nowhere as everyone took their seats delivering food, it was delicious. Jack and I spoke throughout the whole meal, he would touch my hand at every opportunity, stroke my cheek, remove a crumb from by my lips, it was at times as though no-one else was in the room except us.
