Wheatly was shivering with excitement. Well, he tried to shiver. And failed. Thankfully, the girl had not noticed. In a few short hours, he had thought he was going to die twice. Clearly, management had not been entirely truthful with him.

Now, in the breaker room, they could escape, mainly because the breaker room was really an escape pod. What creeped him out was the wreckage of the experiment lying next to their escape route. Wheatly was just glad the cruel robot was dead. He hated her more than the years of monotonous labor.

"All right," he said, "this button should turn it on." He pressed the button. It failed to turn on the escape pod. Frantically, he began to activate anything he could. As he rushed, an alert popped in in his HUD. Help desk, activated, it said. Assessing problem: problem found. Source of problem: blown circuit.

"Uhh..." Wheatly said, "just press any button. One of them should turn this on." Circuit repaired, continued the readout. Main power restored. Wheatly froze a humming sound began. Then he felt relief as the platform began to move.

But something else moved, too.
