Heavens not to far away

The Mitchell family was preforming in front of a real crowd for the first time in their lives. They created their band four years ago and played gigs at school and small coffee shops around town.

Tom Mitchell was the oldest. He was currently twenty-one and going to college at Barden University. He still spent most of his free time at home with his siblings. He's the co-captain of the football team and usually gets decent grades. He's what Beca calls the poster child of the family.

Beca Mitchell is the middle child. She's eighteen and just graduated high school. Her whole life is music but her father wants her to attend college with her brother so that's what she's going to do. She was never one to get perfect grades or even be popular, she has her crew of people and that's all she needs. She's more of the rebel, even more so when she came out gay. Her relatives weren't super happy about that one.

The Jesse Mitchell is the youngest of them all. He's a year younger then Beca, seventeen. He loves movies and is a total nerd. He gets good grades and makes their father happy. He's basically inseparable from his siblings. His heart is also in music like Beca's and he's proud.

The three kids live with their father, William Mitchell after their mother Jamie Mitchell pasted of cancer two years ago. Their mother was their biggest support when it came to their band and they owe everything to her.

Currently their getting ready to walk on stage and preform for their first ever large crowd. They managed to convince a band to allow them to open and got the opportunity to play a single song. They decided to sing the song they wrote for their mother after her death, knowing none of this would've happened without her support.

"You're going to do amazing." Chloe says hugging Beca tight, knowing the effect Jamie's death had on the girl.

"Thanks Chlo, for supporting me and being here. I can always count on you." Beca says sincerely and chloe smiles.

"What are best friends for? Stacie, Aubrey and I will be in the front row cheering you on. Now you three go crush it!" She says and Beca laughs.

"We will." Beca smiles.

The three Mitchell's head onto stage with a smile, Beca stepping up to the mic.

"Hey everyone. A huge thank you to the main performers for giving us this opportunity. We were allowed to play one song so we decided to sing the song for our mother. She pasted of cancer two years ago and it still hurts. If it wasn't for her we wouldn't be doing this. So thank you mom, love you." She smiled before they began the music.

(Beca)

Beca closed her eyes and took a deep breath before the next verse.

(Beca)
As death rattles my cage
I can hear their voices fading
Each breath getting harder
I can hear the tears coming from my daughter

(Tom)
And to her older brother

Tom walked up and wrapped his arm around Beca.

He's thinking back when he was younger
When he had a healthy mother
Who asked him to take care of his little brother

He then wrapped his arm around Jesse and pulled them close to him.

And he's not really sure about life
Or that how could any of this be right
But I know my babies they will be fine

As the music faded the crowd went wild. Many people had tears in their eyes, including the Mitchell siblings. Beca held the mic close to her chest and looked up into the air, silently thanking her mother.

Once they said their goodbyes and left the stage chloe hugged Beca tight.

"Your mother would be so proud." She whispered and Beca felt tears spring into her eyes.

"Thanks Chlo, that means a lot." She smiled.

"I'm glad we got to honor mom like that." Tom spoke from the side.

"'Me too." Jesse and Beca said together.

"It's been a good day, now let's go get some food." Beca laughed and they all headed out.
